Wow.. I can't believe you did this! I spat out my coffee when I saw the sidebar.

Apparently Doug was about the greatest defensive catcher ever, but since he hit like a pitcher, he only played in 69 career major league games.

I never saw any of those 69 games (did he ever play the Expos?), so I have no idea if he really was that good defensively.

All I remember is that the Padres would let him play maybe 10 games a year, and they would go like 9-1.
