You know, I voted for Doc, but B.J. has an excellent chance. Once a closer is first named to the All-Star team, simply approximating the previous year's performance is usually good enough to keep garnering invites.

Towers has more votes than Chacin *AND* Burnett... combined...

I actually like Ryan's chances more than Halladay's. I'd say that they're both probably going to end up appearing, but Ryan seens to be like more of a sure thing than Halladay. Fluke or not, Halladay is still returning from an injury, so you have to take that into account. Maybe his 2004 problems will make a reappearance. Who knows? But Halladay definitely has more of an injury history than BJ does.

Also, I'm under the impression that closers perform more consistently than starters do, although I have nothing to back that up. But I'd think Ryan would have more of a chance of reproducing his '05 performance than Halladay does.

To me, a vote for BJ is a vote for the Blue Jays. Closers seem to selected almost solely on save totals. Since I don't think they'll be winning an extraordinary number of blowouts, the more games the Jays win, the more saves BJ is likely to have...

That said, I picked Doc.
