Unless Roger has a very swift decline, which is still possible at his age even though it's looking more and more like he may never enter a real decline, I think it goes without saying that it would be very, very, VERY bad news for the Jays.

I'd really prefer to see Roger retire or if he has to keep playing let him stay in the NL..Its never fun to have to face this timeless ACE--If he has to pitch in the AL then let the Jays sign him ( I realize this ain't happening-lol)

I agree with Hippy. Roger shouldn't retire, and it would strengthen Boston tremendously to get him.

I'm curious ... what are the greatest MLB "return to home" stories? Rose and Perez both ended up back in Cincinnati after years away. Hank Aaron went back to his original *city* in Milwaukee, as Willie Mays did with New York, though both to different franchises. It'd be hard to top those four in terms of talent and production, but what are some more recent examples?

Clemens to Boston, from an objective non-Jays perspective, would be very cool.

If he ends up on the Yanks or Red Sox it is definately bad news for our chances.

I personally feel there is way this the Rocket retires. He's planning on pitching for the U.S. meaning he'll have to keep himself in gameshape throughout the off-season. A fully loaded rocket come Spring leaves little chance of him not wanting to play another year.

I hope he sticks with the Stros, saving his bullets until May, and attempts to stick around until his son can be a late season call-up in a couple seasons.

That said, if Houston doesn't improve their offence I think there is a 75% chance the Rocket ends up in our division.

If they do indeed get Clemens, how likely is it they roll into town with none of the three on the DL?

Perhaps they're thinking they can harvest Schilling for body parts to keep the other two running.

Not sure it's a great story, but in '34 (or 1935?) Babe Ruth went back to Boston to play his lasts season with the Braves; if he had retired a game ealier, he would have left baseball as having hit three homers in his final game ever played...

Has there been any public comment from Rocket concerning the Astros not offering arbitration? Perhaps Clemens is thinking a May 1st start date is ideal for him. In the interim the Astros can try to add a bat for another October run. By all accounts the man loves pitching at home.

I hope so, I certainly would not relish seeing him in Boston or in Pinstripes come April.

well hypothetically, he is gonna suck. no player has their best year at 43. thus we face him a few times a year and we hit a few HRs and then he will retire! by the wrath of the jays!!!

Not many pitchers post an ERA of 1.87 in a single year, somehow I don't think he is going to fall off the face of the earth after posting numbers like that.

As a baseball fan I love the idea of Clemens in Boston. However, as a Jay fan I really hope he returns to Houston after May 1st. I also hope he plays a few more years. 3 more seasons and he'd easily be in 3rd place all time in wins with a real shot at 400. C'mon Clemens, go for it!
