Well if a righty started the game I am calling Sparky himself off the bench

Tony Fernandez 2001

Or are we only doing guys who spent all their time with the Jays as bench players?

Where's Rance?

Dave Parker comes to mind, although he didn't do a whole lot. Nor did Rob Butler. Does he have connections at BB? Fond memories of his WS pinch-hit? I'm confused, maybe also ignorant.

Rance Mullinks, 1987.  If Rance is already playing, I'll take Juan Samuel, 1997.  Samuel was awesome that year.

Other good choices... all the ones in the thread so far are good (a definite yes to Sparky, 2006, yes!) and another would be a young Cecil Fielder in '85 or Cliff Johnson in '84 (unless Big Cliff was the DH).

I voted "other"---other being Paul Molitar.

Molitar of 1993..

Of course, in 1993 Molitor had about 4 AB a game for 160 games, so wouldn't really be a "bench" option, per se.

Eddie Sprague!! Biggest pinch hit ever by a BJ.

Rance Mulliniks, 1990

In the era of the DH, most of the options were really platoon players rather than pinch-hitters.  Runner on 2nd, 2 out, tie game, top of the ninth, I want Mulliniks (take your pick of year).  Down by a run, 1 or 2 outs, nobody on, late, I want young Cecil.
