In six full seasons, Mark Teixeira has 676 career RBI. How many will he add to that total over his new eight-year contract with NYY?

1000+ (Hall of Fame path) 43 (16.17%)
750-999 (Some good years, some okay) 124 (46.62%)
650-749 (A disappointment) 24 (9.02%)
Less than 650 (injuries!) 5 (1.88%)
He won't last eight years in New York 31 (11.65%)
I *so* don't care! 39 (14.66%)

I think his numbers for a couple of years will be video game like as he enters his peak playing in a potentially loaded lineup. I wouldn't be surprised by multiple 35-40 HR 130+ RBI seasons. How he ages will really be the key. If he can finish strong (100 RBI/season) for the last 2-3 years and hits the ground running while staying by and large healthy, I could see him averaging roughly 110-115 and finishing with 880 - 920 ribbies during his time in NY.  Fairly optimistic but I don't think it's too crazy.

I think that Mark Teixeira easily tops Barack Obama as Man of the Year of 2009!

I mean, here's a guy who's got the talent to be a superstar but thus far has only been limited to regular stardom. I remember after he hit 43 homers and .300 at age 25, his hitting instructor was touting him as a potential 50 homer guy, and to be fair, he's sort of disappointed with seasons of 33, 30 and 33 homers. I mean no disrespect, he's done very well for himself and is certainly a star (and his awesome fielding only helps!) but he's not a premier power source, just a very good (not excellent) bat.

BUT that all changes with this contract! He signs an 8 year deal in which for each of these 8 years, he will be batting 3rd(if Girardi is smart, he'll bat Tex in front of A-Rod!) and be reaping the benefits of the Yankees tablesetters and let's be honest, the Yankees always have good table-setters! Moreover, he'll enjoy A-Rod's protection AND - yes, there's an AND - he's a lefty hitter most of the time so he'll be able to loop a lot of homers past the short porch in right field.

The best part is that he gets paid just over $20 mil to do this!

Nobody's gonna have more fun in 2009 than Mark Teixeira! Oh and if he's single in NYC, just imagine the as... um, chicks he's going to fuc... um, date!

I can see the tabloids of the Madonna-Arod-Teixeira love triangle forming now...
