There were 17 names on the original draft list of candidates and we cut it down by focusing on the pitchers who appeared highest on the Expos career lists for innings and/or for appearances (the latter to be fair to relievers). Apologies then to Jeff Fassero, Woodie Fryman, Charlie Lea, Mike Marshall, Mel Rojas, Scott Sanderson and Javier Vazquez, who are on the outside looking in for this poll.

The meaning of the question dictates the answer here. If it means "who was/is the best pitcher as an Expo?", the answer is pretty clear, if it means "who/is was the best pitcher who donned an Expo uniform", the answer is pretty clear too. I took it as the former.

Can't be the latter, Mike, since Randy Johnson isn't even on the list.

Randy over Pedro? Oh, yes.

Well, I'm not sure that Randy has been better than Pedro, but he'd certainly have made the list!

I think we must have a lot of youngsters voting ... I was surprised (and a little disappointed) to see Vladimir Guerrero charge from behind and pass Tim Raines in the greatest Expo player poll (with the only Expo Hall of Famer, Gary Carter, a distant fourth also just behind Andre Dawson) ... and now Pedro Martinez leading both Dennis Martinez and more shockingly, Steve Rogers?

Yikes.

This youngster voted for Steve Rogers and Tim Raines, so don't look at me.

And what about the"spaceman"???

Neither Rogers nor El Presidente had a season even remotely comparable to Pedro's '97. 305 Ks? Dennis didn't get that many in any *two* seasons. Given the open-ended nature of the question, I thought that was justification enough to throw my vote that way. (And no, I don't think it's the same as calling Roger Clemens the greatest pitcher in Blue Jays history)

Besides, it's because I'm not a youngster that, despite everything he accomplished in Montreal, mentioning Steve Rogers' name only brings to mind one pitch... 0.98 playoff ERA or no 0.98 playoff ERA...

I don't think it's the same as calling Roger Clemens the greatest pitcher in Blue Jays history.

I do. :-)

I think it's quite similar to Stieb/Clemens in Toronto. Steve Rogers won about 100 more games for the Expos than Pedro did, even if Pedro's peak years there were significantly better than Rogers'.

Tim Raines was a truly great player, but Gary Carter was an even greater one.

Pascual Perez was the greatest Expos pitcher ever. On so many levels. I want him in the Hall of Fame.
