Lots of great players spent a lot of time with the Phillies, but even some in the poll (Pete Alexander, for instance) also spent lots of time with other teams. (190 of Pete's 373 wins came with Philly.) Nap Lajoie might have been the greatest player to appear with the Phils, but spent more with with the A's and Indians ... Dick Allen won his MVP elsewhere ... Tug McGraw will always be a Met and Bobby Abreu is now a Yankee ... Others not included were Billy Hamilton, Del Ennis, Cy Williams, Greg Luzinski and Chris Short ... The Phils have had two great Curts on the hill, Schilling and Simmons ... Jimmy Rollins may make the list one day, but not quite yet ... The All-Time PHI leader in saves is Jose Mesa? Holy Mitch Williams ...

Schmidt, with a passing thought to Alexander.  Schmidt  was not only the greatest third baseman ever, but was also the face of the franchise for the better part of two decades.

Schmidt over Carlton.

But a nod to Robin Roberts, who might  have won more Cy Youngs than Carlton if they'd only had the darn award during his peak years.

Definitely second the nomination for Mitch Williams.  Greatest. Philly. Ever.
