Where's the in between? This will not be the worst trade in Blue Jay history, but it will end up being a very bad one in my opinion.

This trade could be titled the "Revenge of Gorde Ashe" if it fails.

As crummy as I feel about this trade, I suspect that in the eyes of the casual fan this is a great trade. I wonder if JP went the extra mile and included zack Jack to keep overbay from the red sox. I like Gabe Gross, but lets face it, we lean enough to the left as it is, and he isn't needed.

Crummy is a good word.

To me being a fan of the bluejays means being a fan of each of their players. I was there watching Bush go into the 7th or 8th inning with a no-hitter going, thinking i love this kid. To me its hard to see how anyone who is a real fan of the team can really like a trade....because they are seeing players that they have been rooting for dealt(its even harder to like when they are young and you wanted to seem them blossom with your team) and they are getting back a player that has no real connection. That being said it is funner being a fan when your team is winning, and this should help the team in that area considering we all ready have people that can do what Bush can do. I sure hope Gross doesn't turn into a monster.

Bush wasn't performing and wasn't going to pitch in 06. Gross was a surplus outfielder who has never shown he can be or will be an everyday player. Jackson was a prospect who, thanks to the signings, the Jays had the depth to trade - he was one of a trillion prospects, not all of which we can possibly keep and get full use out of.

What possible value would we get from keeping them for 06 and not upgrading the starters?

So many people rejoiced that we finally had the depth to trade away some of our prospects - but so many seem to expect other teams to cowtow to demands for low-cost, high-value starters in exchange for uncertain and small returns.

So JDog, you are opposed to ANY trade?

I am a 'real' fan, and I think this is a good trade.

We gave up a surplus pitcher, a surplus outfielder, and an okay prospect for a good upgrade at first.

Now, as long as we can figure out how to unload Hinske and possible Koskie, we should be good. (Hill HAS to play, and they have to figure out where.)

I am for any trade that improves the team.

I know what JDog's saying though. More on the philosophical side of baseball, when you go to a game, you're seeing all the players in real life. They aren't print in a newspaper, or a collection of stats--they're human beings and as someone who goes to quite a few games and lightly knows a couple of the Jays, they're real people that become more to you than any data chart or batting line. So it's sort of sad to see them go and realize that they won't be playing for you, the fan, anymore. It's like having your dog run away.

But I'm really happy that both of them are going to get some serious playing time in Milwaukee. Both of them are real nice people.

I am excited about the prospect of being able to hold my arms over my head in the shape of an O and yell "Ohhhhhh" during Overbay's at bats, much like the lovely Brewer fans who came to the Rogers Centre did earlier this year.

Wow, long time no see TorontoDan. We thought you jumped someone's bandwagon and had abandoned us.
