Game 3 - Vancouver 5 Boise 0 (Vancouver wins best-of-three-series 2-1)
Vancouver, BC — Ladner, BC native Tom Robson (1-0) went out on the big stage and delivered! In front of a packed house of 5,157 fans and Hall of Famer Roberto Alomar at Nat Bailey Stadium, Robson pitched a three-hitter over 6 1/3 innings, striking out two and walking no one. He induced 10 of his 16 outs in play on the ground and retired 10 straight hitters. Robson averaged around 91-95 mph with his fastball and his two K's came on curves in the mid-70s. Lefty Alonzo Gonzalez stranded a runner at third for Robson by striking out a pair of hitters. Gonzalez got through the eighth with just one hit. Chuck Ghysels struck out the first two hitters in the ninth before inducing a grounder to short to set off the celebration and ensure the Bob Freitas Cup will stay in Canada for another season.
The C's broke out on top with two runs in the third off Boise starter Michael Wagner. Chaz Frank singled but was forced out on an Andy Fermin fielder's choice for the second out. Mitch Nay kept the rally going with a single to right before Northwest League MVP L.B. Dantzler sent a fly ball over the head of Boise center fielder Kevin Encarnacion to score Fermin and Nay. The Canadians put the game away with three runs in the eighth off Hawks reliever Zack Godley. Dawel Lugo doubled and scored on a Mike Reeves base hit. Justin Atkinson singled Reeves over to second and both of them scored on an Ian Parmley base knock. I guess you could say Godley was creamed! Nay had two hits while Parmley drew a walk to go along with his single.
