The National Post says right-hander Scott Richmond has a shoulder impingement.  The team says the 30 year-old North Vancouver native will undergo rehab in an effort to return to the mound.

Scott Richmond and catcher Rod Barajas head for the dugout prior to Richmond's start against Minnesota at the Rogers Centre September 7th.

The American League Rookie of the Month last April after a 3-0 start struggled to an 8-11 record with a 5.52 ERA in his first full season in the bigs.  In 24 starts and three relief appearances, the 6-foot-5 hurler struck out 117 batters and walked 59 for a WHIP of 1.49 in 138 2/3 innings.  As noted in the linked story above, the former Edmonton Cracker-Cat suffered a shoulder injury during the season and pitched for the Gulf Coast League Jays and the Las Vegas 51's in a pair of rehab starts before returning.  Shi Davidi from the Canadian Press twitters Richmond pitched in pain for the entire second half as he was rocked for an 8.44 ERA in his final eleven starts.

Here's hoping Richmond makes a speedy recovery and returns to the mound for Toronto in 2010.
