It's an abbreviated "I was at the Jays game last night" version of the minor league update. Dunedin were the only winners Friday paced by a 15 hit attack. Lansing also had 15 hits but came out on the losing end. Las Vegas and New Hampshire scored just one run each.
Marty McLeary gave up three runs in the first and two in the second and the 51's were down 5-0 quickly. Lance Broadway gave up two more runs in the third but generally pitched well as he went seven innings to save the bullpen. Las Vegas' only run came via a home run by Jorge Padilla.
Luis Figueroa, Chris Lubanski and Jorge Padilla had two hits each. Brett Wallace was back in the lineup and went 1-4. The "new guys", Emaus and Calderone were hitless while Diaz went 1-3.
Altoona has the best record in the Eastern league and they showed why on Friday night. New Hampshire were held to just six hits and their only run came from a solo home run by the hot-hitting Shawn Bowman.
Luis Perez was tagged for five of the runs in 5.1 innings. Altoona had 12 baserunners off Perez, nine hits and three walks.
Dunedin had a 4-0 lead, lost it, but scored four in the fifth and three in the seventh for the win. Joel Carreno was the winner, he went six innings and gave up four runs.
Dunedin had 15 hits, which were evenly distributed, six players had a multi-hit game. Mike McDade had three hits including a double and a home run. The two hit club included Adeiny Hechavarria; Travis d'Arnaud; Jon Talley; John Tolisano; and Brad McElroy.
Each team had 15 hits in a tough night for pitchers. Quad Cities took a 5-0 lead and Lansing fought back to tie the game but the Quad put up an 8 spot in the seventh and went on to win. Aaron Loup made the spot start and he surrendered the first five runs over four innings. Matt Wright pitched OK in the fifth and sixth but blew up in the seventh and was tagged for seven runs.
Offensively Ryan Goins and Balbino Fuenmayor led the Lugnuts. Goins went 4-5 with a home run. Balbino was 3-5 also with a home run. Eric Eiland and Oliver Dominguez had two hits each. Ryan Schimpf sat out after being hit in the head by a pitch on Thursday.
