Some technical problems prevented me from posting Sunday's minor league update. Shame for you as I had a really clever headline ready to go. In any event, to make up for it, here's Monday's action where it seems as though every Jay farmhand had two hits last night.
Las Vegas 13 Fresno 7
The 51s picked up 18 hits, including four homers off the bats of Edwin Encarnacion, J.P. Arencibia and a pair from Adam Calderone. Seven different 51s had multiple hit games including three for Encarnacion and four singles from Mike McCoy. Arencibia drove in four runs.
Marc Rzepczynski was shaky but victorious for Las Vegas. Zep went five and allowed three runs (2 earned) on seven hits while walking four and striking out five.
Reading 8 New Hampshire 3
Yikes, not a good night for Ronald Uviedo. The former Pirates prospect went a third of an inning and allowed seven runs (four earned) on four hits and a walk. Oh, and the error that led to those three unearned runs? Yeah, that was his too. Tryston Magnuson pitched two and a third, striking out four and allowing but one hit.
Darin Mastroianni was the only FIsher Cat who did much of anything, picking up three hits, including a double, and stealing his 29th base. Everyone else kinda sucked, though David Cooper did have a double.
Dunedin 3 Clearwater 7
Joel Carreno started and allowed two runs in an inning before (I presume) a rain delay ended his evening. Frank Gailey then arrived and allowed two runs in four innings.
Yan Gomes homered, singled, walked, and drove in three and well, that was about it. Ok, Mike McDade had two hits. Now that's it.
Lansing 3 Bowling Green 5
Matt Fields started and allowed three runs on eleven hits (!) in five innings for the Lugnuts. Scott Gracey followed and allowed two runs in two frames.
Eight different Lugnuts got a hit on Monday and one of them was Kevin Ahrens! Justin Jackson singled and walked twice while Sean Ochinko doubled for the only extra base hit on the evening.
Auburn 6 Williamsport 1
The Doubledays one-hit the....Crosscutters? Weird name. Casey Lawrence did most of the work for Auburn going six, allowing a run on a hit and striking out seven. Brandon Berl and Leandro Mella finished things off.
Yeico Aponte had two hits for Auburn while Matthew Nuzzo drove in a pair. Carlos Perez had a hit and walked twice while a who bunch of guys stole a base. Seriously, check it out.
DSL Blue Jays @ DSL Braves
They were scheduled to play a double header but MiLB.com is asleep at the switch. No updates despite the games starting over 12 hours ago.
GCL Blue Jays 11 GCL Yankees 7
Whoa, the GCL Jays rapped 16 hits and 8 of the regulars had two a piece. I'm not listing them so click above. Chris Hawkins and Andy Fermin each doubled twice and drove in three. There were seven doubles total from the Jays. Not a bad day.
Speaking of seven, that's how many hurlers it took to finish this one off. Nicholas Purdy started and allowed three runs in four innings though he did strike out five against no walks. Then the rest of the staff picked him up. Seriously, you should probably just read the boxscore for the details in this one.
