The six North American based teams gave up fifty six runs in seven games.  The only team to win was Las Vegas who could out muscle their opponent.  Bright spots were a 17 year old pitcher in the DSL who pitched five hitless innings; Jesse Carlson pitched well; Brian Jeroloman hit a home run; Ryan Goins got some hits; Carlos Perez hit a home run; Jake Marisnick got another couple of hits.

Memphis 10  Las Vegas 12

Just another night in the PCL.  Memphis outhit Las Vegas 18-12 and in the middle of the fourth this was a 9-8 game.  Essentially the 51's won because Jesse Carlson shut down Memphis for two innings.  Bobby Ray gave up eight runs, five earned, in five innings.  Rommie Lewis pitched two innings and was happy to escape with two runs conceded, he was hit around for six hits in two innings.

Mike McCoy and Mike Jacobs had three hits each.  Jacobs and Brian Jeroloman hit two run home runs.  Jeroloman was 1-3 with two walks.  Brad Emaus was 2-5.  Jacobs had four RBI's and is hitting .467.

Bowie 13  New Hampshire 2

Rey Gonzalez's tough season continues.  Bowie got to him for six runs, through nine hits, in six innings.  Danny Farquhar cruised through the seventh but was terrible in the eighth, he gave up hits, walks, hit a batter, and an error combined to give Bowie four runs.  Bowie hit a couple of home runs off Ronald Uviedo in the ninth before infielder Luis Sanchez got the last two outs.

Offensively Jon Jaspe had three hits, one a home run, Shawn Bowman had two, and David Cooper one.  That's it.

Palm Beach 4  Dunedin 2 - game 1

Henderson Alvarez was throwing the ball down the middle and the Palm Beach hitters were happy.  In six and two thirds innings Alvarez gave up 13 hits and he had no strikeouts.  Palm Beach hitters were hitting early and often, Alvarez was lucky to only give up four runs.

Offensively Dunedin had just four hits.  Mark Sobolewski had one of them, a double to drive in a run.  The other run was unearned and scored on a ground ball in the seventh.

Palm Beach 6  Dunedin 2 - game 2

Game two wasn't much better than game one.  Chad Jenkins was his usual self, four runs conceded in five innings, six hits allowed.  Evan Crawford walked the bases loaded in the sixth, then hit a batter as he allowed two runs.

Dunedin scored their two runs in the bottom of the seventh, Ryan Goins delivered a two out, two RBI single.  Goins had his best night in high A, he was 3-3 with the two ribbies.

Fort Wayne 12  Lansing 3

Another tough night for the pitchers.  Egan Smith and a parade of relievers all allowed runs.  Ryan Schimpf led the offense with a 3-3 night, all extra base hits, two doubles and a triple.  Jake Marisnick was 2-4 and is hitting over .300.  Kevin Ahrens picked up a hit and a walk.

Auburn 4  Vermont 7

ESPN's Buster Olney threw out the first pitch before this game, Olney is a Vermont native and brought good luck to the Mountaineers.  Something un-nerved Daniel Webb, he walked six hitters in 3 plus innings.  Add in a few hits and some erros and Webb had given up six runs.  The bullpen was actually good, they only conceded an unearned run.

Auburn had started well, Carlos Perez hit a two run home run in the first inning.  Oliver Dominguez supplied the rest of the offense, he singled in a run in the second and hit a solo home run in the fifth.

GCL Blue Jays 1  GCL Phillies 4

The Phillies chipped away, scoring a single run in four separate innings.  They outhit the Jays 8-6 but in their 8 was a home run, a triple and a double, whereas the Jays hits were all singles.  Misual Diaz made the start and gave up two runs in five innings.

Pierce Rankin and Daniel Arcila had two hits each, Arcila drove in the only run.  Dalton Pompey made his professional debut and went 0-3, all ground outs.

DSL Angels 0  DSL Blue Jays 3

17 year old starter Luis Zerpa pitched five hitless innings to get the win.

Three stars:

3rd star: Jesse Carlson

2nd star: Mike Jacobs
