It was a perfect night on the farm and some Jonathans and and an Oliver did some major damage.
Las Vegas 15 at Sacremento 10
Las Vegas was down by 6 after the fourth inning and won by 5. That'll happen when you score multiple runs in 4 of the last 5 innings, including a 4 and 5 spot. The offense was remarkably balanced, as every starter but one had a hit and seven of the nine players reached base safely at least once, led by Jonathan Diaz who went 4/6 with a homer and double, driving in 2. The 51s ended up tallying 13 hits and 11 walks in total. Jarret Hoffpauir went 1/3 with 3 walks, Chris Lubanski singled and walked twice, Brad Emaus singled, doubled and walked, and Danny Perales hit a home run and drove in 4. Robert Ray took the hill and took the damage in this one, giving up 8 runs, 7 earned, in 3.1 innings. The rest of the pitchers did well, with Jeremy Roenicke picking up the win and Jamie Vermilyea the save in 1 and 2 scoreless innings, respectively.
Harrisburg 2 at New Hampshire 3
Harrisburg jumped out to an early 2-0 lead but the Cats came back with runs in the 2nd and 6th before pushing the winning run across on a Callix Crabbe double in the bottom of the 8th. Jonathan Jaspe, getting the start at first, reached base safely 4 times on 2 walks and 2 doubles, scoring twice. Adam Loewen and Chris Liuzza also walked twice, while Adeiny singled and Mastroianni tripled. Kyle Drabek started for New Hampshire but only went 3 innings, allowing 2 runs on 4 hits and a walk; he struck out 5. Danny Farquhar pitched 2 hitless innings for the save.
Dunedin 4 at Lakeland 1
The D-Jays were aided by no fewer than 4 Lakeland errors leading to 2 unearned runs. Limiting Lakeland to 3 hits also helped. Dunedin's offense came almost entirely from 3 players, as Ryan Schimpf, Yan Gomes and Kevin Ahrens each had 2 knocks, with Ahrens having the team's only extra base hit, a double. Schimpf also stole 2 bases, and Justin Jackson and Kenny Wilson swiped one apiece. Chuck Huggins pitched an effective 5 innings, giving up one run on one hit and one walk, with 4 strikeouts.
Western Michigan 2 at Lansing 6
Lansing struck for 2 in the first, second and fourth innings and that was more than enough to put the Whitecaps away. Egan Smith started and put pitched 6 innings, allowing 1 earned run on 8 hits. He walked none though and struck out 5, and got 8 of his 12 outs in play on the ground. Meanwhile Lansing got all the offense it needed from Oliver Dominguez, who singled, homered and walked twice in 4 plate appearances, scoring 3 times. Brad McElroy and KC Hobson also chipped in with 2 hits, while BRad Glenn doubled and Jake Marisnick tripled.
Auburn 3 at Lake College 2
Auburn had 4 hits, including 3 doubles, in the first inning to jump out to a 3--0 lead that they would not relinquish. Gustavo Pierre had 2 of the teams 6 hits, including a double, to pace the squad, while Lance Durham and Stephen McQuail both doubled, the later drawing a walk as well. Pierre, Markus Brisker and Matthew Nuzzo also stole bases. Sam Strickland got the start for Auburn, going 4 and allowing both runs. The pen shut things down, allowing only 1 run in 5 innings.
