The current Veterans committee is to debate the "Modern Baseball Era" Voting is on December 10th and there are ex-Jays on the ballot.

Steve Garvey, Tommy John, Don Mattingly, Marvin Miller, Jack Morris, Dale Murphy, Dave Parker, Ted Simmons, Luis Tiant and Alan Trammell
ex-Jays: Jack Morris (still sounds wrong all these years later), Dave Parker (brief at the end of his career).
Guys who should go in but won't: Marvin Miller (should've been in years ago), Tommy John (how many players have a procedure named after them plus nearly 300 wins), Alan Trammell (why isn't his dp partner Lou Whitaker here, both criminally underrated by writers, and fans).
Guy who will probably go in: Jack Morris (most wins in the 80's and a 10 inning game 7 shutout that shouldn't have been)
Wouldn't be shocked by: Dale Murphy (2 MVP's), Luis Tiant (many feel he should've been there long ago).
Will get support but not getting in: Mattingly (Mr. Yankee for the non-WS years), Steve Garvey (had a long consecutive game streak, well thought of by writers of his era)
No support ever but actually really close: Ted Simmons (look him up, you might be surprised)
The ballot for the writers will come out soon with Chipper Jones a lock, Jim Thome likely to come close, and many others who likely will be one and done (some might get a second ballot). Returning are (70%+ last time so should make it) Vlad Sr, Trevor Hoffman, with 50%+ for Edgar Martinez, Roger Clemens, Barry Bonds, and Mike Mussina. Canadian Larry Walker will hopefully climb up a bit, while ex-Jays Fred McGriff and Jeff Kent also keep floating along hoping voters notice them someday.
Also of note: the Ford C. Frick Award (broadcasters) is to its final 8: Buddy Blattner, Joe Buck, Bob Costas, Dizzy Dean, Don Drysdale, Al Michaels, Joe Morgan and Pee Wee Reese. A lot of ex-players there which I'd prefer not to see win. I'm pulling for Costas as he was always enjoyable on the TV broadcasts when I was a kid as was Al Michaels. They are doing a 3 year cycle for this award now and these are "National Voices", next year is "Current Major League Markets" (where Jays announcers can be considered), last year was "Broadcasting Beginnings".
