Vinny Capra, who I assume is someone's cousin, went deep twice for New Hampshire on Sunday. Samad Taylor also hit his ninth home run. Anthony Kay and Paxton Schultz had similarly disappointing starts. Buffalo couldn't recover but Vancouver did. Dunedin were rained out.

Scranton 8 Buffalo 0

New Hampshire 9 Portland 2

Vancouver 12 Spokane 6

Dunedin at Lakeland - postponed

This is what I noted from yesterday's games.

Anthony Kay cruised through three innings with just two ground ball singles as baserunners. The fourth was a different story. Kay faced eight hitters, recorded two outs, and conceded six runs. He was hit hard, one home run and two doubles. So some good and some bad. Connor Overton pitched 3.1 shutout innings with five K's. As the Jays look for bullpen help, Overton, Hobie Harris, Kirby Snead and Bryan Baker all have a claim for a call up.

The Bisons had only seven hits, Richard Urena was the only hitter with two.

The bottom third of the order came through in this game with six runs scored and six RBI. Vinny Capra went deep twice out of the ninth spot and drove in five runs. Demi Orimoloye had three hits and scored twice. And Chris Bec had one hit and walked three times. Other than the bottom third Samad Taylor hit his ninth home run, added a double, a walk and two stolen bases. C also had two hits.

Portland scored one run off Maximo Castillo in five innings. The bullpen was solid over four innings.

Paxton Schultz's start was like Anthony Kay's. Schultz had just allowed one hit through three innings. But in the fourth went walk, walk home run. That was followed by single, double, home run. Schultz was done after four with six runs in. The C's trailed 6-4 but scored five in the fifth and another in the sixth to pull away. Adrian Hernandez, recently called up from Dunedin, pitched three shutout innings to pick up the win.

Tanner Kirwer led off the game with a single and scored the first run. He added a three run home run in the second. The C's scored five in the fifth, Ryan Gold doubled in two runs, Luis De Los Santos added a two run home run. In total the C's had 16 hits. Gold added a ninth inning home run and drove in four. Eric Rivera had three hits.
