The New York Yankees, still evil, still imperial. Plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose.

Last year's Yankees gave up almost exactly the same number of runs as the Blue Jays (693 to 669, edge to Toronto) while scoring not nearly as often (big edge to the Jays, 846 to 711). The Yankees did get a little luckier than Toronto in the close games, but this mostly reflects the Blue Jays habit of piling on their vanquished foes with plenty of extra punishment. The Yankees got healthy seasons from both Giancarlo Stanton and Aaron Judge, which hasn't been something they've been able to depend on every year. They need them to hold up one more time, along with an even older RH slugger, our old chum Josh Donaldson. Josh is certainly an upgrade on Gio Urshela, but he's been known to spend some time on the IL himself.
