Nope, no A.J. Burnett and no B.J. Ryan. And no potential trades and no potential signings. And no budgetary postulations and no second-guessing.

Instead, this thread contains a photograph of Shea Hillenbrand holding on a runner at first base:

I love Shea Hillenbrand. He is so intense -- you've got to respect that quality as a fan.

"A deal that would see Toronto infielder-designated hitter Shea Hillenbrand and pitcher David Bush head to Milwaukee for Overbay is being discussed, ESPN.com reported. "

Ouch. Curse of the POTD? ;-)

I never had any pictures of Bush, which some credited for his frequnt losses-that-should-have-been-wins last year.

So maybe.

Off-topic: I just got my "VOTE ZAUN FOR ALL STAR GAME" t-shirt today. I say we go all out campaigning for him this year.
Twilight - Wednesday, December 07 2005 @ 03:14 PM EST (#135028) #
Yeah...How much better is Overbay than Hillenbrand? Enough to give up Bush? I'm not so sure.

If the trade involved Hinske and Bush or Koskie and Bush, I would be more apt to say yes. Even if another prospect were thrown in.

Dear lord, where can I get one of these?
VBF - Wednesday, December 07 2005 @ 06:30 PM EST (#135082) #
I just got a place to customize it for me. It cost $25.

Just go to the Toronto T-Shirt Company on Yonge Street across from the Eaton Centre (which is sadly closing its doors as it is a Toronto landmark) and they will just make it for you.

Shea and Dave Bush for Overbay? Good thing gold jumped today or I'd be really bummed out. Sad news about the Toronto T-Shirt Company closing, too. I got a "69 Breakfast of Champions" jersey there in 1966. The shock value was tremendous.

Commenting on a couple of trade rumours from ESPN.com

1) Boston acquires Mark Loretta from San Diego for Doug Mirabelli.

To me, this is a steal. Loretta is a good OBP, #2 type hitter, and Mirabelli is a poor hitting catcher who was used primarily as Tim Wakefield's personal catcher.

2) Baltimore is close to signing catcher Ramon Hernandez

Don't they already have a great catcher in Javy Lopez? Why do they need both? Do they plan on moving one to another position?

Gentlemen... what part of
no A.J. Burnett and no B.J. Ryan. And no potential trades and no potential signings. And no budgetary postulations and no second-guessing.
did you misunderstand? There are two active threads full of that right now that are expressly about those things.

NFH, sorry, I glanced at the title and saw the "No AJ Burnett" but did not see the rest of the direction for this post.

But rather than attack me with sarcasm, I'd rather you had responded by saying "I'm moved your post to a more appropriate forum".

Apologies again.

There's no function available for me to move a comment from one article to another.

I was blunt because the article is clearly the photo of the week -- it has a big photo at the top and a pleasant little "photo of the week" icon. To have missed that, you clearly had skipped over this week's photograph, and that hurts me just a bit.

Sorry, have to comment on this a little more --

I glanced at the title and saw the "No AJ Burnett" but did not see the rest of the direction for this post.

See, that really bugs me -- you skipped over reading the article to post some comments about the article? I don't mean to browbeat you, Kieran, but that makes me feel like I do a lot of work on articles for nothing.

Just a bit of friendly ribbing here NFH, but how much work did you put into this article? This isn't like one of Magpie's opuses. What did you have to do? String three sentences together? I guess the html tags for the picture must have taken some time :)
Named For Hank - Thursday, December 08 2005 @ 08:05 AM EST (#135367) #
Cristian, I spent about about a total of two hours on it. First I had to sort through the remaining 4,000 photographs that haven't been used to select this one, then I spent a lot of time on cropping, retouching, selective sharpening and general cleanup.

Oh, and then there was the six days spent shooting and then the couple of weeks cataloging.

Where do you think these photographs come from, that I just steal them off of someone else's website?
Cristian - Thursday, December 08 2005 @ 09:15 AM EST (#135396) #
Sorry NFH. Chalk it down to my complete lack of understanding of anything artistic...and my general insensitivity.
westcoast dude - Thursday, December 08 2005 @ 09:54 AM EST (#135417) #
Named For Hank, that was a great picture of Shea, a fitting tribute for his swansong. I'm a little bit sad that he's gone, but your picture is how I want to remember him, never having seen him in person. Thanks for the memories to you both.

Hillenbrand's gone? What have I missed with the radio off??
westcoast dude - Thursday, December 08 2005 @ 10:05 AM EST (#135426) #
He's not gone! Woo-hoo (doing a Homer Simpson cartwheel).
Wow, yippee! All of a sudden I feel like a kid again. Awright! Great Picture, Aaron. Big juicy kiss on Theo's forehead for me.

ah...ah...ahhhhh...please read the "article" son.

please read the "article" son.

I was responding to "a fitting tribute for his swansong" -- I thought maybe something had come down the pipes that I hadn't heard.

I'm not sure why everyone wants to take shots at photo of the week. I spend a lot of time on it (especially during the season when it's daily) for no reward other than to have done it.

For what it's worth, I'm a huge fan of the POTW. They're always awesome, and I've often forwarded them to friends.
Jonny German - Thursday, December 08 2005 @ 11:01 PM EST (#135690) #
Likewise. My desktop rotates from one POTW to the next.
VBF - Thursday, December 08 2005 @ 11:06 PM EST (#135692) #
POTD is fantastic and keep it up. It gets repetitive saying "Great Shot Again" every week, because its always true. It adds a very nice dimension to ths site and the few people taking shots at it do not represent the majority of bauxites views.

Andy Dominique is still my desktop and I refuse to change it.
