NOTES

Buffalo scored four runs with six hits. Nathan Lukes and Tyler Heineman singled in the first two runs then Luis De Los Santos tripled in two more. Lukes and De Los Santos had two hits each.

Andrew Bash is doing a good job as a fill in starter. He went 5.1 innings and only allowed one run.

CJ Van Eyk made his first AA start. Van Eyk made 19 starts for Vancouver in 2021 but missed all of 2022 with TJ surgery. He made eight appearances this season between the FCL and Dunedin but now the powers that be decided he was ready to make his AA debut. He pitched into the fourth inning. he had thrown three scoreless but a walk and a home run ended his night. He used 47 pitches. It was a decent start to his AA career. Van Eyk, Tiedemann and Trent Palmer should all be under consideration for the fall league.

Damiano Palmegiani hit his 19th home run in the second inning. That was followed later by a two run single by Alan Roden. And that was all the scoring for NH. Miguel Hiraldo had two hits.

Two unearned runs cost Vancouver the first game. Walk, error double led to the two runs. Devereaux Harrison went 4.2 innings and struck out eight. Gabriel Martinez had two of Vancouvers four hits.

Another unearned run proved to be the margin in a one run loss for Vancouver in game two. Alex De Jesus's 20th error helped Hillsboro score their fifth run.

Glenn Santiago came to bat in the second inning with the bases loaded. He doubled to score all three runs. Later Cade Doughty hit his 17th home run. Vancouver had seven hits in the game.

Both teams had four hits in the first Dunedin game. Nick Goodwin homered for the Jays only run.

The Jays doubled their hits to eight in game two. Goodwin tripled in a run. Jace Bohrofen hit his sixth home run and added a double. Roque Salinas and Jaden Rudd added two hits. Connor O'Halloran pitched the last two innings to get the win.

As far as a 40 man crunch goes we added Leo Jimenez 2 years ago. His development was slow due to injury. Barger and Orelvis were too well regarded to not protect from a rebuilding team. Danner's stuff was very good so he was added.

I suppose there are about 7 players coming off the 40 man. Maybe 4 prospects are added.

The weak teams with no expectations to contend may pick some of our players. Maybe T Morris. Contenders will take a chance on pitching that is about ready But I can't think of any. Maybe J Robbins hoping he can stick. I think about half of selected players get returned.

D Santos, Dasan Brown, R Nunez have some loud tools but are not ready. They may interest non contenders. If the Jays protect any of them they will be clogging up the 40 man roster. R Nunez is a 6 year minor league FA.

Pretty rare that non-pitchers get taken at all in Rule V. Last year, out of 15 picks, 13 were pitchers. The draft before, 15/18 were pitchers. The ones that do get taken tend to be succeeding in AAA (like Noda last year).

And only 7 of those selected in the Rule 5 were not returned.

The Jays had Ryan Noda (taken in the Rule 5 from LAD last year) once upon a time. He has put up 2.2 bWAR so far this year. Instead they have 1.1 bWAR Vlad
