So, according to Jeff DaVanon, Bengie Molina couldn't hear his teammates shouting that home plate was uncovered because of the noise being made by the fans in the SkyDome. Take that, naysayers: a loud home crowd can make the difference between a win and a loss!

That said, who's coming out tonight and tomorrow? And while I'm at it, who's up for some Texas this weekend?

Friday against Texas is a confirmed Drum night, but just like Monday, the O-Drum can make surprise appearances when you least expect it. And new Cheer Club member Brent has The Hentgen with him to bring to tonight's game, since I will be arriving late, so if you're looking for a way to I.D. the Cheer Club, look for The Hentgen.

As always, see you up in 518. RSVPs requested but not neccessary. And ask me anything you want to know right here in this thread.

Odd... I already posted in this thread once before it was briefly deleted. But as I said:

If The Hentgen is hanging over the rail, just look for THE HAMMER as I'll be there Wednesday, Thursday adn the Texas series.

You heard it yourself folks, for the first time in YEARS the Dome has been called "too loud to function" by opposing players!! The Hentgen is trying to tell us that together in 518 we CAN make a difference!!

So no excuses! Come on out tonight and tommorow and keep the trend going by rocking the dome!

That said, who's coming out tonight and tomorrow? And while I'm at it, who's up for some Texas this weekend?

Check, check and check. I'll be going to all of these games, and "the Hentgen" will also make an appearance. Although my voice still hurts, I'll try and make some noise once they start the CHARGE music.

Jobu, between Craig and my antics we managed to break the first thread, delete it and repost it, and break it again. So we're being more careful with this one.
_Fawaz K - Wednesday, May 26 2004 @ 01:18 PM EDT (#62035) #
If you could repost and answer Craig's tax question I'd appreciate it...

My sons and I have tickets for tonight in 524B and for Saturday in (I think) 521.

We'll be makin' some noise and might pop over to 518 to see you guys.

Section 518 Wakin' Up the Neighbours Tour 2004 (apologies to Bryan Adams if that constitutes copyright infringement)!!! It is amazing what 5-10 rabid fans can do to alter the staid, sterile environment of Colossus Concreteus. Actionjackson and Diamond Dog were in attendance Monday night in our constantly revolving Toronto Star Seasons Pass seats and we must give two thumbs way up for the boisterous contributions of this small but lively group. I also witnessed the phenomenon on May 13 vs Boston and Curt Schilling (a 12-6 win!). Thankyou for your efforts to revive "the morgue". It all starts with a few. You never know where this can take us. I recall a rain soaked night in Cleveland vs the Jays in 1985. A little over 6000 braved the elements in an 80000 seat stadium, but the pounding drums could be heard from the outfield. Look how far that organization came in a short period of time. Way to go cheer club!!!
Named For Hank - Wednesday, May 26 2004 @ 01:48 PM EDT (#62038) #
Hey, ActionJackson, you and Diamond Dog are welcome to join the crew. It's a lot of fun to shout GOING! GOING! ZAUN! until your throat hurts.

GregH, see you there.

Fawaz, I don't remember Craig's question, but my answer was "yes".

Dont forget to periodicaly check in on the Snake Insurrection thread. Its slowly getting burried as days go by and he just posted a poster idea which I think could be a great poster with some helpful cheer club sudgestions.

Oh boy, I'm finally going to see The Hentgen tonight. Im giddy!

Thanks Named For Hank, we'll shoot for Friday vs Texas. We try to make it to one game a series, generally night games. We never know when we're going to show up, we just do. I've found when I try to go to back to backs, I get a little burned out. Don't get me wrong I'm watching or listening or following online, just not there. Has anyone with a Star pass requested a seat in 518? What have the results been? Should we just move over anyway given the low attendance?
_Andrew K - Wednesday, May 26 2004 @ 02:11 PM EDT (#62041) #
I'll be right behind the Angels dugout tonight. I've lost all internet access in the hotel so I can't arrange to meet with anyone. But I'll have a great time there!

Tomorrow I'm back off home but it's been a great trip and I'll certainly be back. Perhaps for the playoffs in 2005? Blue Jays v Texas in the ALCS?
_Jobu - Wednesday, May 26 2004 @ 02:16 PM EDT (#62042) #
Has anyone with a Star pass requested a seat in 518? What have the results been?

A little something like this:

"Hi, can I have something in 518?"
"Okay, here you go"
_alsiem - Wednesday, May 26 2004 @ 02:23 PM EDT (#62043) #
GregH,

Don't hesitate to bring your sons over to join the fun. The Cheer Club is a positive, inclusive group. The attendance is so low that the ushers don't care. I was asked to show my ticket and the user was completely uninterested when I ignored his directions and made a bee line for 'the Hentgen'.

I won't be there for awhile but have a great time.

I've found when I try to go to back to backs, I get a little burned out.

With Great Power Comes Great Responsibility.

Has anyone with a Star pass requested a seat in 518? What have the results been?

My results are similar --

ME: Hey, can I get a seat in 518?
TICKET GUY: Sure, how about the first row?

When they say you can't request specific seats, they really mean you can't ask for the front row in 524b. If you ask to sit in the less densely populated areas, they're more than happy to accomodate you.
Named For Hank - Wednesday, May 26 2004 @ 02:32 PM EDT (#62045) #
Andrew, if you get this before the game, why not hightail it over to the elevator between innings and pop up to 518 and say hi for half an inning? We'd all love to meet you while you're here.

Let's try this again: UN-OFFICIAL INSURRECTION POSTER

If you want to reply to this, or suggest changes, do it in the corresponding thread, just to keep the INSURRECTION day compact and organizable- cause that's what it will take to pull off an invent of this magnitude:

I'll be there Thursday and I may show up today. Have a great game if I don't see you guys there, and cheer loud.
_Jobu - Wednesday, May 26 2004 @ 04:27 PM EDT (#62051) #
The poster has potential, but its a little house leauge for a night as important as the insurrection. I sudgest you converse with NFH and crank out a real gem.
_JBR - Wednesday, May 26 2004 @ 04:35 PM EDT (#62052) #
I'll be playing my own brand of ball tonight, trying to keep up my .667 batting average. (I know, small sample size, but 4/6 is 4/6.) I'll see whether I can make a game this week before I trot off to Austin TX on business. Likely Friday.
_Jobu - Thursday, May 27 2004 @ 12:11 AM EDT (#62053) #
So whose going to be there Thursday with mini-broom in hand?
_Alex - Thursday, May 27 2004 @ 12:16 AM EDT (#62054) #
If Rios debuts, and a few others show up, I am perfectly willing to tempt fate and bring a broom.
Named For Hank - Thursday, May 27 2004 @ 09:42 AM EDT (#62055) #
I'm working late, but I'll show up at about 8:30 just like last night. Great crowd despite the lack of the O-Drum.

Tonight's going to rock. I'm making a Rios sign -- what should it say?
_Jobu - Thursday, May 27 2004 @ 02:00 PM EDT (#62056) #
It looks like I can not make it in tonight, so perhaps if there are no other STARPASSERS in the cheer club tonight, you guys can set up camp in the outfield behind Rios and try to make a difference there and make him feel really welcomed. And of course taunt the hell out of Angles now that they can hear you.
_Rob - Thursday, May 27 2004 @ 02:01 PM EDT (#62057) #
I'm making a Rios sign -- what should it say?

Something in Spanish...but I can't think of anything at the moment.
_Alex - Thursday, May 27 2004 @ 02:29 PM EDT (#62058) #
perhaps if there are no other STARPASSERS in the cheer club tonight, you guys can set up camp in the outfield behind Rios and try to make a difference there and make him feel really welcomed.

There are usually only four ushers patrolling the outfield - I snuck down to 108 with a fairly large group twice in the White Sox series to get at Magglio Ordonez - so I wouldn't worry about springing for those seats just to get a look at Rios.

Since I won't be touching a computer until game time to check up on any such evil plans, though, I'll assume we're staying in our usual spot and head up to 518 for the start of the game.
Named For Hank - Thursday, May 27 2004 @ 02:33 PM EDT (#62059) #
See you up there, Alex.

Mike D - Thursday, May 27 2004 @ 02:42 PM EDT (#62061) #
Sign in Spanish, eh? There's always "!BIENVENIDO ALEX RIOS!," with the first exclamation point upside down. It's welcoming him to the Dome, and it nearly rhymes.
Mike D - Thursday, May 27 2004 @ 02:44 PM EDT (#62062) #
By the way, I'll be escaping from NYC this weekend to head up to Toronto. Will anyone be in 518 on Sunday? Will the O-Drum? I've got tickets in hand already, but I'd love to drop by for an inning or so.
Named For Hank - Thursday, May 27 2004 @ 02:48 PM EDT (#62063) #
I'll be up there. I'll ask BD about the O-Drum weekend schedule on Friday night. If you want to get onto the e-mail alert list, drop me a line (COMN).
_Lindsay - Thursday, May 27 2004 @ 10:36 PM EDT (#62064) #
Nice work with the sign tonight, NFH. And proper respect as well to your two partners in crime who, I note, did most of the holding!
Named For Hank - Thursday, May 27 2004 @ 11:03 PM EDT (#62065) #
Heh, somehow I ended up sitting in the middle. ;)
_Alex - Thursday, May 27 2004 @ 11:23 PM EDT (#62066) #
To say NFH did an awesome job this whole series would be a monumental understatement.

Without Aaron, the first six and a half innings flew by today with zero offense. Then, suddenly, he came with the sign just in time for "OK Blue Jays," and Rios sparked the game-winning rally, just like Monday and Wednesday when The Hentgen prompted timely offensive outbursts. I'm beginning to sense a sort of Sign Mystique surrounding home games...

Following that logic, if the Rios sign, The Hentgen, the Teddy K's, and the O-Drum are all present tomorrow, then realistically, how can the Jays not massacre Texas?
_Jobu - Friday, May 28 2004 @ 12:44 AM EDT (#62067) #
Alex, you forgot THE HAMMER
_Jobu - Friday, May 28 2004 @ 01:32 AM EDT (#62068) #
NFH: Will you be making K's for the bullpen also, as we briefly discussed on Wednesday? I beleive we figured out some of the relievers:

Here's the Pork Chop for Mr. Ligtenberg

The mask for Mr. Kershner

and my favourite for Mr. Frasor (feel free to crop the image a bit

as for the rest: Nakamura's gone. Im stumped for Los Santos and searches of Lopez only get pictures of J-lo...not the most manly image.
Thomas - Friday, May 28 2004 @ 08:18 AM EDT (#62069) #
I still think we should have John Kerry's for Ligtenberg, but maybe that's just me.

We need the Teddy K's out today. Whoever has them, be sure to bring them. Tape, too.
Thomas - Friday, May 28 2004 @ 08:22 AM EDT (#62070) #
If you're going for every reliever, what about "The Incredible Hulk" for Vinny C.
Named For Hank - Friday, May 28 2004 @ 10:07 AM EDT (#62071) #
Damn, it's looking like a busy day -- I may not be able to get to these. I'll do my best, though.
Named For Hank - Friday, May 28 2004 @ 10:11 AM EDT (#62072) #
And I love the Hulk for Chulk.
_GregH - Friday, May 28 2004 @ 12:42 PM EDT (#62073) #
My boys and I were there Wednesday, but checked in to see you guys in 518 too early (about 20 minutes before the game). By the time you got going and goofin' with the guys from Montreal next to you, my 8 year old had fallen asleep (he's getting over a throat infection).

We'll be there again Sunday (sec 527)- we changed the tickets from Saturday so my boys could get Mr. Sub sports bags! Hope to see and hear you then.

By the way, although the crowd on Thurs was fairly small(14700 or so), the crowd noise coming over the TV was much louder than I can remember hearing, even for games with twice the number of people. Maybe the fans at the games are starting to get it, thanks largely to you guys.
