Today was the draft. None of the picks look all that exciting to me. Our Jays can’t seem to put teams away. But hey, we still have minor league baseball. Five affiliates were in action tonight and there were two wins to report.

Rochester 6 BUFFALO 9

Jesus Montero had three hits, a homer, and three RBIs. One of his hits and RBIs came in the deciding eighth inning where the Bisons scored three runs to break the 6-6 deadlock. Dalton Pompey had three hits as well, as did Domonic Brown. Brown had three RBIs. On the mound Roberto Hernandez went four and two-thirds walking five and allowing three earned.

RICHMOND 6 New Hampshire 5

Jason Leblebijian had a big night. Two homers, a double, and four RBIs. He is hitting .529 since his call-up. Ian Parmley had three hits. Both their efforts were for naught as the Fisher Cats fell to a Tyler Beede led Flying Squirrels squad.

ST. LUCIE 10 Dunedin 6

Richard Urena had three walks and a hit. The team, in fact, walked a total of eleven times. They were also 2-15 with runners in scoring position. Emilio Guerrero had two hits and three RBIS.

Lansing 5 LAKE COUNTY 6

Angel Perdomo gave up three earned over five innings. He struck out six and walked two. Joan Kelly homered and Max Pentecost doubled.

Pompey is now hitting .312 with an OBP of .390. Slugging is down but that's seems to happen a lot in Buffalo and that would still play nicely in the lead off spot.

"Leblebijian to Lavarnaway" would make a challenging call for Jerry on the the play at the plate.

I don't get why pompey has never shown any power at all in AAA, when he's shown it at every single other level, including mlb.

Just like I typed in another reply, is now time to challenge Pompey as #3 hitter in the Bison lineup as he has shown this season that he can hit leadoff. The then vacant leadoff slot is assigned to a hitter who already has good pitch recognition or plate discipline but still need to improve hitting for average, baserunning and basestealing. With Montero hitting behind Pompey than say Burns, Pompey shall see more pitches to be hit and hence more chance to slugging.

Dunedin PA announcer Bill Christie says Anthony Alford was carried out on a stretcher after a collision in the outfield with Richard Urena. No word yet on his condition. Hope he'll be alright.

Two of the Jays top position players collided on an infield fly.
An other reason why umps should call those timely and loudly.

I'm crossing my fingers for Alford. What a trying year.

ESPN says Alford is talking and moving his limbs after an apparent neck injury.

I just notice a Corey Hart as the hitting coach for Dunedin, who shall be Corey David Hart, not Jon Corey Hart. The latter had spent almost entire career so far as a Brewers. The coach only played 1 season Brewers' Triple-A baseball.
