The affiliates won four out of six Wednesday night.

Buffalo 6 Durham 4

The Herd racked up five runs in the second and one more in the fourth to build a 6-0 lead and it was enough to beat the Rays affiliate. Jesus Montero and Alexi Casilla had two hits apiece. Domonic Brown, Junior Lake, David Adams and Tony Sanchez all had one hit and one walk. Adams also stole a base.

Roberto Hernandez (3-2, 4.44) pitched 6-1/3 innings of three-run ball, giving up a home run and five other hits. He struck out six and walked one. Pat Venditte gave up a homer and two walks in two-thirds of an inning. Ryan Tepera had a 4-2 K/BB total over two shutout innings for his eighth save.

New Hampshire 9 Altoona 3

The Fisher Cats put up a converted touchdown before the Pirates affiliate even responded. Ryan Lavarnway had three hits and a walk. Roemon Fields, Melky Mesa, Dwight Smith Jr. and Matt Dean had two apiece. Jorge Flores also had a hit.

Jason Berken
(2-6, 4.89) was jolted for a two-run homer but he threw a five-hitter over frames, striking out two and walking nobody. Matt Dermody struck out two of the four hitters he faced in 1-1/3 perfect innings. Murphy Smith was nicked for a run on three hits over 2-2/3 innings but struck out four.

Charlotte 4 Dunedin 2

Francisco Rios (3-3, 2.38) put together five decent innings in a losing cause against the Rays affiliate. He gave up two runs (one earned) over five frames on five hits, a walk and a hit by pitch while striking out six. Adonys Cardona gave up a run over two frames and Conor Fisk conceded another in the eighth.

Gunnar Heidt
belted his first Florida State League home run. The other run came home on an error. Derrick Loveless walked twice while J.D. Davis and Aaron Attaway both singled and walked. Ryan McBroom walked once in four trips to the plate. Every Dunedin hitter reached base once by hit or walk but were 0-for-11 with runners in scoring position.

Lansing 10 Great Lakes 1 (Game 1 - 7 Innings)

A six-run first inning put this one away against the Dodgers affiliate. J.C. Cardenas crushed a three-run homer to put the exclamation point on that rally. Jake Thomas and Josh Almonte had the multi-hit games with two apiece. Cardenas drew two walks as did Conor Panas, who went 0-for-1 but scored three runs. Max Pentecost was 0-for-3 with a walk and a run scored.

Ryan Borucki (3-3, 3.72) limited the Loons to one run on three hits over six frames with a 9-0 K/BB total. Danny Young struck out two in a shutout seventh.

Great Lakes 6 Lansing 3 (Game 2 - 7 Innings)

The Loons flipped the script on the Lugnuts by getting to Patrick Murphy (0-1, 4.29) for four runs over four innings, including a two-run dinger. Murphy was mauled for eight hits and three runs while whiffing three. Ryan Cook tossed two scoreless frames but Dusty Isaacs had two unearned runs on his ledger in the seventh.

J.C. Cardenas
went deep again for a three-run shot in the ninth. Josh Almonte had the only other hit for Lansing. Ryan Metzler drew the lone walk.

DSL Blue Jays 11 DSL White Sox 5

Yorman Rodriguez went 3-for-6, drove in five runs and stole a base to help the Jays beat the Pale Hose into submission. Jesus Navarro also had a trio of hits and Victor Figuereo had two hits and a walk. Sam Buelens picked up a hit, a walk, a stolen base and four runs scored at the top of the order.

Maximo Castillo gave up just one run over five innings, striking out five to help offset four hits and two walks. Tommy Henriquez (1-0) coughed up an unearned run but rung up five batters over three frames. Nicolas Cabarcas gave up two runs (one earned) without getting anyone out. Jesus Colman got the final six outs but not before giving up a run of his own.

Harris has to be ahead of Greene at this point no?  He's looked like the guy we thought we were getting last year and has made some significant adjustments.

Where does Zeuch fit in the pitching prospect depth chart... now that he has signed?

At this point, the club has 5 significant A ball pitching tickets- SRF, Harris, Greene, Rios and Perdomo.  If two pan out, that would be good.  Damned if I know which two. Management has timed the contracts of the existing starters well to set themselves up in the medium term.

The development of the bats has been less successful so far in 2016.
