Last summer, Mrs. Hank and I went on a neat little road trip, first out to New Brunswick for a friend's wedding, and then down to Boston to visit some relatives. Mrs. Hank's uncle is a Boston tennis pro, and so when he put out the word that his niece and her hubby were coming out to visit, some pretty fantastic Red Sox tickets were offered to him.

Here's the view from 'em:

Not bad, eh? Couple of rows behind the Red Sox dugout. The Sox beat up on the Padres, and Pokey Reese hit a Green Monster home run on his birthday.

Can you top chanting "1918", and having one of Boston's finest stationed at the end of your row though? Your seats were clearly fantastic, but without the police involvement...I don't know.

Heh.

What's funny is that these seats are actually closer to home plate than the camera bay at the Rogers Centre. There's so little foul territory in comparison at Fenway that the good seats are very intimate.

Of course, we wandered the stands a bit, and the bad seats are horrendous.

"Pokey Reese hit a Green Monster home run on his birthday"

Was that the game he also had the inside the park HR?

Hrm. I don't think so. Could have been -- it was almost a year ago, so the memory has grown hazy.

Pokey hit just three homers all of last year, but he had two on May 8, including the inside-the-parker. His birthday is June 10; the third homer came that day.

So NFH had to settle for the simple amazement of a normal Pokey Reese homerun.

Fantastic picture NFH. You can feel the atmosphere through the picture.

Great pic Hank.

I made my first trip to Fenway last year -- sat in the first row of the Monster seats to see Halladay v. Pedro on Saturday April 10. Even though we lost, I fell in love with the place. I'm going back in July to see Yanks/Sox.

Even if you're not a fan, you must admit there's something "special" about the Red Sox and Fenway Park.

I get the sense you are from Boston?

The park was very nice, and under the stands wasn't the cesspool I'd been led to believe.
