Starner's ERA took a beating in one game where he was left in to absorb 13 earned runs. He has been great otherwise. Purcey and Romero remain the key pitching prospects left in the minor leagues.

There's gotta be some room for Seth Overbey on here, the guy's the Jeremy Accardo of the minor leagues. Plus, how cool would it be to have 2 Overba(e)ys on one team?
Mike Green - Friday, May 25 2007 @ 09:25 AM EDT (#168512) #
Sure.  Overbey will join the party next time up.

Good ratios. What's going on?

His 42 strikeouts and 42 hits in just 32 IP suggest he is both too hittable and unhittable at the same time.

Am I out of place in saying that the state of minor league pitching prospects in the Jays system is a bit depressing. I understand that a lot of youthful pitching is already in the show but there appears to be a big gap in the low minors.

Hopefully JP is pulling our legs when he stated that he would not be drafting high school pitching in this draft.

I would agree, Sister, that the club is short on pitching prospects.

The merits of drafting high school pitchers vs. college pitchers is a complicated topic.  The changes to the CBA which allow high schoolers to remain within the drafting club's control but off the 40 man roster for 5 years make them a more attractive option than in previous years, but there are development issues as well.  It is not simply a matter of drafting high schoolers.

Ouch!  Josh Banks gives up 8 runs in the first inning tonight.

Travis Snider is not in the lineup for Lansing again tonight. Anyone have any idea on his status?
Marc Hulet - Friday, May 25 2007 @ 08:37 PM EDT (#168576) #
He has a bruised thumb from being jammed the other night.
