Lansing scored 17 runs as the Baby Jays swept the night’s games. Two weeks running now that the affiliates have swept on the night I write the MLU. You’re welcome.

BUFFALO 9 Toledo 5

Jose Reyes went 1-4 with a single in his first rehab appearance and bashers Matt Hague and Brad Glenn did the run producing as the Bisons trotted to victory. Hague had three doubles and Glenn had three hits, including a double and a homerun.

St. Lucie 2 DUNEDIN 3

Dunedin walked-off to victory in the ninth. Derek Loveless led off the ninth with a home run, tying the game. Five batters later, Boomer Collins III (does that mean his dad and granddad were Boomer’s as well?) walked the winning run in. Starter Murphy Smith allowed two earned in five innings of work. Two shutout relief innings each from Jimmy Cordero and Chad Girodo kept the game close until the aforementioned late game heroics.

South Bend 2 LANSING 17!

Justin Atkinson was the only Lugnut to not record a hit tonight as the Lugnuts boomed and bopped to victory. Rowdy Tellez went 3-3 with two doubles and plenty of ribbies. Anthony Alford has a .450 OBP, by the way. Chase De Jong went eight and two-thirds, yielding two earned. What happened to the platoon?

Three Stars

3. Chase De Jong

2. Matt Hague and Brad Glenn

Thanks Sam for the sweep.

I really like Case De Jong. He has good control and probably throws 4 types of pitches. I do not know how hard he throws. Does anyone know?

I see Alford's name alot lately. I thought I would look at his stats

Rowdy Tellez is mashing the ball. He might need to go up soon....

Alford is batting .371 in his last 10 games and has walked more (12) than he's struck out (10). If this trend continues when he hits 150 at-bats, I hope he gets sent to Dunedin for the rest of the year. Ending the year in high-A would be a terrific success story for him.

Alford's OBP is crazy good right now. He's got a outstanding walk rate but he's strikeout rate is a tad too high but it's to be expected since he hasn't played much baseball the last few years.

Urena is a surprise with 5 HRs already, tied with Tellez I believe.

DJ Davis has shown improves in his average and has improved his strikeout rate as well. Last year it was almost 34% and this year it's at 27%. Still high but definitely an improvement.

danny jansen's babip is finally starting to normalize. still only at .220 but thats 50pts higher than it was a couple weeks ago. and he's maintaining his elite bb/k rates and solid power. already up to a 110wrc+ with that babip likely to rise significantly still. this kid might be real good.

i'd like to see both alford and tellez go to the C's when they get going and get used to living in Canada. There will be plenty of time to hit Dunedin next year.

You want to demote two of Lansing's best prospects to get used to playing in Canada?

Lansing is more similar to Toronto than Vancouver in terms of both climate and personality. If you are concerned with them "getting used to..." then leave them in Lansing. I say just let them progress and give them some Buffalo time.
