Vancouver begins with a romp and Lansing clinches. Your affiliates were 3-2 on the night.

Buffalo 0 LEHIGH VALLEY 3

Bit of a pitching matchup with Daniel Norris striking out seven in five and a third, while Aaron Nola shut out the Bisons, striking out seven himself. Adam Loewen struck out six hitters in his two shut out innings of work. Nola and Loewen were both pitching for the Phillies’ affiliate, though could feasibly have been pitching for the Jays. Ah prospects. Devin Travis had a hit and three strikeouts.

Dunedin 1 PALM BEACH 4

Not much going on here. Jairo Labourt walked four over five and two-thirds. Derrick Lovelace and Christian Lopes had two hits apiece.

Bowling Green 1 LANSING 3

Lansing clinched a playoff spot tonight. Chase De Jong pitched a complete game. He struck out ten, walked three, and allowed four hits. Well done. Anthony Alford scored in the first after doubling, while D.J. Davis collected two hits.

VANCOUVER 11 Salem-Keizer 2

Baseball is back out here in Vancouver. The Canadians romped to victory behind Clinton Hollon and fourteen hits. Hollon struck out seven in five scoreless innings. He allowed two hits and a walk. Leadoff man Earl Burl III had a nice little game as well. He doubled twice, drove in a few runs, stole a couple bases, and walked for good measure.

DSL BLUE JAYS 4 DSL Brewers 3

Three Stars

3. Earl Burl III

2. Clinton Hollon

1. Chase De Jong

So does Tim Locastro get a promotion now? After a slow start to the season, he's now at .330/.426/.447. He has almost an even number of BBs and Ks (6.6% vs. 7.8%) and, of course, there are all the HBPs. (Though he's trailed off a little of late with those, having just four in his last 20 games -- I mean, come on, Tim!)

The solid ISO and low K-rate are particularly encouraging for a prospect, though he's a bit old for the level. If he doesn't get promoted soon, I'd say the Jays simply don't think he's a real prospect. Even if he does, he'd have to be considered a long-shot at this point, but he is fun to watch.

"Derrick Lovelace and Christian Lopes had two hits apiece."

Any relation to Linda?

Lane Thomas opened the season as the C's second baseman and went 1-4 with a walk, a strikeout, a sacrifice fly and a stolen base.  Locastro has cornered the market on HBPs...

Congrats to Lansing.

If the promotions occur as expected there would be a crowd in Dunedin. The OF, 1B & DH. It will be interesting.

I am looking forward to the GCL Jays & Bluefield Jays rosters being announced sometime this weekend. Their seasons start early next week.

huge debut for hollon after missing much of the last 2 years with tommy john.  a hard throwing 2nd round pick, he's one to watch, along with fellow hurlers Ryan Borucki, evan smith and Daniel Lietz.  We certainly do have the young pitching to make a deal for an ace.

Lane Thomas is the sole hitter on my radar - anyone got any sleepers to keep an eye on in vancouver?

"So does Tim Locastro get a promotion now?"

There's several players that are doing well in Lansing that probably fit the bill for promotion. However, there's a also a bunch in Dunedin that haven't performed well to deserve promotions but that the Blue Jays may want to take a longer look at? The middle infielders currently there are Lugo, Lopes and Thon. Do you start splitting at bats or want them to play everyday?

I'm not sure any hitters are screaming for a promotion from Lansing. Maybe McBroom and Locastro, but as suggested, 1B an 2B are fairly crowded in Dunedin.

Lane Thomas opened the season as the C's second baseman

Interesting. Didn't know he was in the second base business, but glad to see them trying it out.

I wonder if Lopes may get pushed back to NH to create some room. His season line appears to be two stretches of different BABIP luck (bad in AA, good in A+) and at 22 there isn't much value in keeping him in Dunedin much longer.

Chase De Jong made Baseball America's Hot Prospect Sheet, ranking #2 on the list.

I didn't realize how well he was doing in Lansing, and what a dominant month of June he's had. Impressive stuff. There is definitely pitching depth in our system...hopefully we can make a trade for a frontline starter before the trade deadline.

Some more decent pitching efforts last night from Boyd, Tinoco, and Evan Smith.

Tonight's game at Lansing featured a 6-3-6 ground ball triple play.  Presumably Urena tags the runner from second going by, fires to first for the second out and McBroom sends it back to Urena who tags the runner coming into second to complete the play.  I've never seen that one.

I think a line drive to the SS with men on 1st and 2nd sounds more likely but I don't know what actually happened.

The milb log describes it as a groundball, but maybe it is wrong.
hypobole - Sunday, June 21 2015 @ 10:37 AM EDT (#303358) #
Urena dropped a line drive, ran to tag out Kelvin Ramos at second for one out, jumped on the second base bag for two outs, and then threw to Tellez at first for the final out.

Got the play from the Lansing game story. Guessing the batter didn't exactly hustle to 1st.

The game recap has it Urena to McBroom to Urena.  I guess it was wrong.
