Max Pentecost had the banner evening on the farm, while pitching prospects Francisco Rios and T.J. Zeuch had so-so outings.

Buffalo Bisons

Rain.

New Hampshire Fisher Cats

An ugly affair really. The rival Yankee affiliate won this game on a three run, two-error play in the fourth. The highlights demonstrate an impressive array of ineptitude. Francisco Rios looks a good pitching prospect—nice, consistent delivery. He’s going to start baseball games in the Major Leagues before his career is over.

Dunedin Blue Jays

A six run fifth inning was enough to push the Baby Jays over the top last night. Max Pentecost led the way with a homer and a double. T.J. Zeuch had the de facto start and went six innings. I was going to write this during his last start, but from the video of Zeuch online from Spring Training, it looks as though the Jays have tweaked with Zeuch’s mechanics. From what I can see they’re trying to streamline him to the plate and get him to pitch downhill more. The Spring Training video has him almost Steve Trachsel like with his glove hand aggressively out and towards the target. In college, you could see he was little more side-to-side movement with the glove and his delivery. He looks a little less free and easy to my eye. J.P. Howell pitched a scoreless first inning.

Lansing Lugnuts

Lansing were shutout last night. They also appear to have lost another starter. After Patrick Murphy was placed on the disabled list, starter Osman Gutierrez was removed from the game as a precaution. Reliever Denis Diaz filled in admirably though and struck out seven in five plus of work.

I was looking at F Rios as a pen arm. I expect that he could arrive fast. Starting in AA is high enough to get all his pitches working. He should have a good selection of pitches.
