The affiliates won just one of three on Tuesday. Buffalo's game against Rochester was rained out. They will play two today at Coca-Cola Field.

New Hampshire Fisher Cats

Tim Lopes continues to push for a call-up with two more hits, including a triple. He is now hitting .318 with an OPS of .812. Harold Ramirez still has not gotten back on track with a .197 batting average and has walked just twice in 61 at-bats. Anthony Alford is falling back to earth as his average has sunk to .321 after hitting just .171 in his last 10 games.

Jon Harris is not fooling anyone right now as Eastern League hitters are batting .314 against him.

Dunedin Blue Jays

Max Pentecost walked this one off for the D-Jays with a run-scoring single to cap off a 2-for-5 night. Lane Thomas had a three-run homer and Connor Panas went deep in his third game back from the disabled list.

Ryan Borucki struck out the first seven batters of the game and eight of the 11 batters he faced over 3-2/3 perfect innings, throwing 34 of his 45 pitches for strikes. The outfielders had nothing to do until Ryan Cook ended the fourth with a flyout. Cook was scored on for the first time this season when he gave up a home run to start the fifth to end a 15-inning scoreless streak but he still has an ERA 0f 0.51.

Lansing Lugnuts

Bo Bichette belted a three-run homer for his third dinger of the season in the first inning and is batting .360. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. returned from a knee injury but went 0-for-3. Josh Palacios was on base three times with two hits and a walk as he tries to recover from a slow start. Edward Olivares was 3-for-4 with a triple but was caught stealing. He's hitting .366 over his last 10 contests.

Mike Ellenbest had his best outing of the season, giving up just one run on four hits and three walks while whiffing six.

Oh wow! Is this the first incomplete post for the minor league update?

Brutal game in New Hampshire - 2 runs,. 2 hits, 2 errors. They scored twice!

Dunedin won after a crazy start from Borucki, a misplayed ball in CF allowing a run to score from third. Lane Thomas had a HR, and Pentacost had the unlikely walkoff single and a 2B.

Lansing lost. Guerrerro stretched his on-base streak to 21 games! Bichette hit a HR! Olivares went 3/4, Palacios had 2 hits and a BB, and Jake Thomas went 1/2 with 2 BB.

13 hits for Olivares in his last 6 games. He's got a bit of pop and some speed and only recently turned 21 ... is he on anyone's radar? Anyone have a sense of his D in CF?
PeterG - Wednesday, May 03 2017 @ 10:58 AM EDT (#341517) #
His D is above average. He has great speed. I believe I mentioned that I really liked him when I saw him in ST. He got into a few games then. He is very much on my radar.

Does SSS stop applying at 150 ABs? We are about 2 weeks away from the 150 AB number.
uglyone - Wednesday, May 03 2017 @ 11:03 AM EDT (#341520) #
That's still SSS but I think we can start looking at numbers right now as having some meaning....especially in terms of BB/K rates.

babip effects are still massive though.

Thanks uglyone. So good news regarding Tellez, more patience required by me regarding Bichette and Guerrero.

BA has just published an article on the all prospect all stars for April. There are 13 players ...5 pitchers and 8 position players.

Out of 13, 3 are Jays : Guerrero, Bichette and Alford.

Vlad is the 2nd youngest player to start the season on an opening day minor league roster.

thanks for the link Peter.....looking at the comments it seems Jansen almost got the nod for catcher on that list, too.

Per Keegan Matheson on Twitter, Reese McGuire is on the DL for New Hampshire and Mike Reeves gets the call-up from Dunedin.

Also, Lugnuts get plunked six times including Vladdy but he homered in Lansing's win today.

throwing at batters has to stop imo...there are too many injuries as it is.....MUCH more severe penalties are necessary.....

I see that Brad Jones did not finish game in Lansing? He was one of those hit? injured?

"I see that Brad Jones did not finish game in Lansing? He was one of those hit? injured?"

Hit on the hand, no idea how serious.

The hand is a bad place to be hit.

There seems to be a plethora of interesting prospects in the minors for the Jays.I am not acquainted with Ryan Cook at all, and have never seen him on any prospect lists, but he has great numbers so far.
PeterG - Wednesday, May 03 2017 @ 08:56 PM EDT (#341559) #
Ryan Cook was signed in 2015 as a non drafted FA out of Richmond U. He does have great numbers and could soon be promoted to AA as he is 23 years old. I am wondering if he has discovered a new pitch or something that has made a difference for him. He is capable of starting as well as relieving.
dan gordon - Thursday, May 04 2017 @ 12:19 AM EDT (#341571) #
Cook is now 24. His numbers prior to this year were uninspiring. I'm not reading much into his 17 IP yet. If he can keep it going for another month, maybe. It would be good to know if there is a specific reason that might account for his success this year. Olivares is getting interesting as he moves up the ladder. Speed, some pop, good defender, only 21.

Donaldson and Tulo did not play for the D Jays last night. I hope that they get some game action soon.
