The Lansing Lugnuts slugged their way to another victory. That was the only 'W' the affiliates came up with in four tries Tuesday.

Buffalo Bisons

Dwight Smith Jr. had a three-hit day for the Herd, lining a double to left to score a first-inning run and lining another base hit to the opposite field to drive in another. He also pulled a single to right to lift his batting average to .323. Roemon Fields singled and scored on Smith's second hit but is only hitting .176 with one stolen base since a recent promotion to Buffalo. Rowdy Tellez had an RBI single in four at-bats.

Jarrett Grube gave up four runs over six innings and Jeff Beliveau did the same over one. Both of them served up dingers to former Bison Clint Robinson. John Stilson struck out one in a perfect eighth and has whiffed 15 batters while walking six to go with a 1.23 ERA in 14-2/3 innings.

New Hampshire Fisher Cats

The best piece of news from this game was Anthony Alford returning to action after injuring himsefl when he slipped on the outfield grass two nights ago. He singled, walked and stole his eighth base of the season but was also picked off at first. Emilio Guerrero snapped a 0-for-10 skid with two hits, including a double, but is only hitting .216. Ryan McBroom and Mike Reeves also had two hits apiece. For Reeves, it was his third game at Double-A.

Shane Dawson dropped his fourth of five decisions as he was dinged for four runs over six innings. He allowed seven hits and two walks and only struck out two.

Dunedin Blue Jays

Danny Jansen had one of the two Dunedin hits on the night. He is now second in the Florida State League in batting average at .375, four points back of the leader. D.J. Davis had the other hit and is 5-for-13 over his last three games. Dunedin had trouble making contact as Cavan Biggio, Max Pentecost and Matt Dean all whiffed for a hat trick. Andrew Guillotte walked but was caught stealing twice. Lane Thomas stole a base but he struck out twice.

Jordan Romano surrendered just one run over seven innings but he dealt with 11 baserunners on seven hits, two walks and two hit by pitches. However, he used seven strikeouts and seven groundouts to limit the damage.

Lansing Lugnuts

Bo Bichette bounced back from a 0-for-5 day Monday with three hits and a walk, rapping base hits to left, center and right field with two hits considered to be of the line drive variety. He also drew a walk to offset his strikeout in a 3-for-4 day at the dish. He has six multi-hit games over his last 10. Edward Olivares had a 3-for-6 day, doubling twice, scoring four runs and stealing a base, his seventh in nine attempts. He has had five multi-hit games and is batting .372 over his past 10 contests. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. kept his on-base streak going at 27 games by going 2-for-5 with two RBI.

Andy Ravel gave the Lugnuts some length with seven innings of four-run ball. One of the runs was unearned as he scattered seven hits (one home run) and two walks. The Kent State product uncorked three wild pitches but struck out a career-high six and induced 11 groundball outs to improve to 3-0. Ravel is getting stretched out as a starter after working in tandem with Mike Ellenbest in Vancouver last year. Taking the loss was former Jays minor leaguer Nick Wells, who was whacked for seven runs over five innings.

Much better outing for SRF today. He gave up 1 run in 5 innings on 3 hits, 5 K's.

Valdez took a no hitter into 6th for Bisons. Now has been replaced by Latos.

Ceciliani came out of the came in the 4th, didn't sound like an injury, broadcast said he was called back to the dugout heading out for the inning. Assuming that would be for Morales, sigh.

That makes sense as he is optionable and can be up and down like yoyo. We won't see Smith till later in season when they are certain that he will stay up.
