Bo Bichette had a walk off single on Sunday. The Fisher Cats had two walks off wins over the weekend. There were many very good pitching performances over the last three days, too many to mention here. Read on for more details.

Buffalo

Buffalo were hitting all weekend. They scored 9, 12 and 7 runs in their games. Roemen Fields went 9-17 with three multi hit games. He is on fire. Rowdy Tellez had four hits on Saturday and seven hits over the weekend. Is Tellez figuring out AAA? The unheralded Ian Parmley was 8-13 and has his average up to .289. Dwight Smith had four hits including a home run. If you had said at the start of the season that if the Jays need a left fielder it would be a decision between calling up one of Dwight Smith, Roemen Fields or Ian Parmley people would have thought you were nuts. But if one of them were called up tomorrow it would not be a surprise, not considering 40 man roster issues.

The pitching was not as strong as the hitting. Francisco Liriano made a rehab start on Sunday and pitched well through four innings before falling off in his fifth inning. Reliever Chris Smith is recently back from injury and is striking out a hitter per inning with a WHIP of .75. He could be on the radar for a late season call-up.

New Hampshire

The Fisher Cats went 3-0 over the weekend. Two of the wins were through walk off home runs by players hitting their first AA home run of the year. Tim Lopes was the star on Friday and Michael De La Cruz supplied the honours on Sunday. Danny Jansen had a rare 0-5 on Friday but rebounded with three hits on Saturday. Andrew Guillotte was 4-11 including his first AA home run. Jonathan Davis has been given the lead off spot and he had five hits over the three games. Matt Dean was promoted to AA over the weekend. Dean played 65 games in AA in 2016.

New Hampshire had a couple of good starts. Chris Rowley gave up just a solo home run over six innings. He had five K's. And Sean Reid-Foley had one of his best starts, he had nine K's over 6.2 innings with only one walk. SRF gave up a two run home run in the first inning but held Reading at bay the rest of the way.

Dunedin

Dunedin had good starting pitching over the weekend. Angel Perdomo got it started with six shutout innings, three hits, one walk and seven K's. Perdomo has these performances in him, he just needs to do it consistently. TJ Zeuch also pitched six innings, he let up one earned run with four hits and three walks. Zeuch had five hits off his pitching, and he had ten groundball out to two fly balls. Ryan Borucki finished the 3-0 weekend on Sunday with ten K's. Borucki went 5.2 innings and was charged with two runs. The starters were very good this weekend

The Dunedin hitters were not as good as the pitchers. Lane Thomas was 5-12 over the weekend with three doubles. On the other hand he struck out five times. Max Pentecost had three hits over two games to push his average back over .300. The Florida State League does depress offense but the D Jays are hurting right now. Danny Jansen and Andrew Guillotte were hitting well and both were promoted. As a result Cavan Biggio is the second best hitter on the team, in terms of OPS, at .736. Mat Pentecost is the top hitter.

Lansing

Lansing needed a walk off in the 12th inning on Sunday to salvage a game over the weekend. Yesterdays game was 0-0 through 11 innings until Bo Bichette singled in the winning run in the 12th. That was his only hit of the game but he did have two hits in each of Friday and Saturday. Vlad Jr was 3-13, a slow weekend for him. Brad Jones had four hits on Friday including his eighth home run.

Patrick Murphy dominated through seven shutout innings on Sunday. He only allowed three hits, strangely he had just one K. That explains how he used just 88 pitches in seven innings, the hitters were swinging early. Andy Ravel had his best strikeout day over the weekend, he punched out nine in five innings. He has 14 K's over his last two starts.

Rowdy has become Adam Lind-ish this season.

vs RHP 299/371/477
vs LHP 091/216/159

SSS and he did seem to hold his own vs lefties last year, but it's not the 1st time he's has extreme platoon splits either.

I believe there was a significant delay in the top of the fourth in Charlotte.  That may hurt Liriano.

yep, and 2 more Ks against the LH starter today for Rowdy.

It's a concern.

According to a tweet from Buffalo during the game, Tellez broke his bat over his knee (Bo Jackson style) after one of his strikeouts tonight.  He seems to be getting frustrated.

Looks like Jason Leblebijian has snapped the mini-slump he had been in. Today he went 4 for 5 with 2 HR's after going 3 for 5 yesterday. He had been 6 for 42 during a 10 game span leading up to Saturday's 1 for 4. Chris Smith had his first bad game of the year, giving up 3 runs in the 9th to earn a blown save on a 3-run HR.
