NOTES

Buffalo had five hits in their game, all singles, but they also made five errors. Three of the Mets five runs were unearned. It was a bullpen game. Adam Macko pitched the ninth and retained his zero ERA. In five appearances he has thrown 6.1 innings, two hits, two walks and six K's. He is working his way into the potential call-ups picture.

Chris McElvain made his first start of the season for NH, he walked five and struck out three in four innings. Javen Coleman struck out five in two innings. Cutter Coffey had been off to a slow start but he doubled and tripled. Jackson Hornung also had two hits.

Vancouver had a big offensive performance for the their first win of the season. They had 12 hits and 12 walks and scored 14 runs. Every hitter contributed to the success of the offense. Carter Cunningham went 4-5 and drove in four runs. Dub Gleed also had four RBI's. Tucker Toman had two hits, JR Freethy walked four times and scored four runs.

Landen Maroudis started and went 2.2 innings. He used 52 pitches and gave up one run on four hits. He struck out three. Gilberto Batista followed with 3.2 innings. He gave up six hits. The Northwest League does not have baseball savant level information on the pitchers and there is a lot of interest in Maroudis as he is a prospect but his velocity was down last year after his TJ surgery. Listening to the C's broadcast last night Tyler Zickel does not give a lot of velociry information but on one strikeout he noted that Maroudis's fastball was at 94 mph which is much better than 2025.

Trey Yesavage pitched for Dunedin in a continuation of a rain stopped play game. Yesavage struggled in his first inning and gave up four runs. He settled down to strikeout six over 2.2 innings. Among the relievers was Brayden Heidel, a non drafted free agent signed last year In his first pro experience Heidel went three perfect innings and had his FB up to 99 mph with a 97.2 average.

Blaine Bullard hit his first pro home run. Jojo Parker struck out in his first two at bats but followed those with a 99 mph double and a 106 mph ground out.

In game two The D Jays scored six runs with nine hits. Peyton Williams had three of the hits. You wonder why Williams is in A ball but this was his first game since April 5 so he is obviously working through something. Enmanuel Bonilla has played four games and has one hit in each game. Its nothing to get too excited about yet but it is better than he performed the last two seasons. Jojo Parker had a double, a 100 mph groundout and two K's. That's his pattern early in the season, a few too many strikeouts but when he makes contact he hits it hard.

Troy Guthrie started and struck out four in four innings. Austin Smith got to pitch and lived up to his college billing, two walks, 8 strikes and nine balls.

Troy Guthrie is interesting. He does not throw hard yet but is young. He has had a lot of success in his pro career. That success is probably due to good good control and command but I am not sure.
