Jones is the hottest  hitter in the organization right now - 15 HRs and 15 SBs in his debut season.  BRef has him as a half year old for his age, but he clearly deserves a promotion - it just seems the new FO is slower to promote.

Does anyone know if he can stick at 3rd?  He seems to be playing 2/3 of his games at 1b, which clearly raises the bar for his bat.  BP doesn't like his baserunning or his D - how valuable are these stats for a rookie league player in a small sample?

Considering he's apparently an elite glove and is at least a year young for Vancouver, Yeltsin Gudino's 78wrc+ (with 0 power) is actually looking interesting right now.

with the influx of short season guys from the 2015 and 2016 drafts having solid years this year, suddenly I'm looking at the numbers and seeing 25+ legit interesting prospects again, when it was hard to come up with 15 before the season. that's nice.

Yes, it has been a very good year for prospects, especially compared to last year when it wasn't. That's why I hope none of note are traded in the offseason. It's not in Shapiro's DNA to deal good prospects anyway. I think the signs point to a mini rebuild next year and beginning this offseason. I know some will disagree but that's the way I see it and I believe that most FO moves so far confirm that thinking.

I would agree with that 25+ legit interesting prospects number Ugly.  Nobody close to the bigs this year, but we could be adding loads of young talent to a strong veteran core as early as 2018.

The Lansing Lugnuts are getting reinforcements from Vancouver according to this tweet from Steve Ewen of the Vancouver Province.

Hearing @vancanadians have lost 2B Cavan Biggio, OF J.B. Woodman, OF Josh Palacios and RHP T.J. Zeuch to promotion to Lansing.

Here's a story about free-agent signee LHP Eric Veglahn, formerly of the St. Paul Saints.

Excellent night in the high minors. Pompey, Tellez and Alford all had big games. Rowdy is now slasHong .300/.388/.511.

The three hitters from Vancouver are in the Lansing lineup tonight. Zeuch has not been added yet, pitchers are usually not added until its their turn to start.

FisherCats twitter said Greene was hitting 99-100mph tonight. Decent outing but not very economical as he threw 108 pitches through 5 innings.

Great debut with Lansing for Woodman, going 3 for 3 with a HR, plus a walk. Drove in 3 and scored 2 while hitting 3rd. Palacios and Biggio were 1 and 2 in the batting order.

I agree now with the bauxite that said the 2016 draft is looking good.
jerjapan - Sunday, August 28 2016 @ 11:37 AM EDT (#329985) #
Palacios / Biggio / Woodman is a pretty sweet 1-2-3 for Lansing's lineup.  Woodman was the least popular high draft pick this year, but he's certainly changed my mind.

Great start last night for Conor Fisk in Dunedin with a game score of 77 - he's been primarily a starter since the start of July and his stats look excellent - is he becoming a person of interest?

This plus his last name, not to put too much pressure on him;)
uglyone - Sunday, August 28 2016 @ 12:28 PM EDT (#329995) #
would love to hear if anyone has any info on Woodman's D in CF. could make him a really good prospect.
PeterG - Sunday, August 28 2016 @ 12:45 PM EDT (#329996) #
according to a pre draft report from MLB.com, Woodman is better than average defensively...strong arm, good speed, needs to improve technique.
ayjackson - Sunday, August 28 2016 @ 01:28 PM EDT (#329999) #
I'm a little hesitant to believe in Woodman's batted ball profile until he can cut down on the wiffs.
