This site has replaced alt.sports.bluejays for me. As long as their is intelligent debate, no trolls, and no spam, I'll keep coming back. Looking at the familiar names who post here, I know I'm not the only one who has migrated from the newsgroup.

I used to post regularly at alt.sports.baseball.tor-bluejays, until it was invaded, and eventually conquered, by trolls. (I still miss some of the old-timers, and their discussions: I remember when, for example, Tom Evans was nicknamed "Mr. Lucky.")

I still am in awe of some of the regular posters to this blog, and their dedication to baseball in general and Blue Jays baseball in particular. Gentlemen, I take off my figurative hat to you!

Of course the greatest Blue Jay nickname from ASBTBJ was:

We got excited about 10,000, as I recall. We were not ambitious; the original hit counter had four digits!

I'm probably responsible for 3-4 "hits" most days, and I'm sure others check in more than once, but that still translates to a hundred or more almost-daily regulars, and quite a few casual readers.

Batter's Box has obviously caught on, and it's becoming a community. I don't measure the site's "success" by the number of visits any more; milestones are enjoyable for a moment, but the number of new friends I've made is far more rewarding. Thanks to everyone who keeps coming back.

All of this community touchy feely stuff gets left on the sidelines post-Yahoo draft, right?

In an update most asbtbj readers will appreciate, Felipe Crespo was reassigned to minor league camp by Cincy this week. Looks like they don't 'believe' either.
