As Mick alluded to in his article, Reds OF Dernell Stenson was shot and killed in a bizarre, mysterious, terrifying and tragic murder in Chandler, AZ yesterday.

Stenson, a rookie this year in 37 games with the Reds, was in Arizona playing for the Scottsdale Scorpions of the Arizona Fall League, and was tearing up the AFL with a .394 average.

A sad day for Cincinnati and for baseball, and our thoughts and prayers will be with Dernell Stenson's family today.

If you have messages of condolence for the Stenson family, you can e-mail them to tybalt4@yahoo.com or post them in this thread. Batter's Box will forward these on to the Reds who should be able to convey them to the Stensons.

Please leave this thread for condolence messages. Discussion of the crime and its effects should go here, in Mick's thread. Thanks.

Baseball is a game of history, tradition, and memories. All those who played and loved it will remain a part of that tradition forever. From an Angels' fan who never had the opportunity to see Dernell play, my thoughts and wishes for strength and peace to his friends and family. Like Lyman Bostock, he left the game he loved too early, but he will be alive in the memory of our pasttime. (Must some great ball being played in Heaven!)

R.I.P Dernell. Surely will be missed by all Reds fans.
