Jamestown 2-4 Auburn 5-2

This retro reporting of the doubleheader score is brought to you by El Producto. Big City Joey Metropolous hit a grand slam homer with 2 outs in the bottom of the 7th inning (the last inning of the doubleheader) to bring the Doubledays back from the brink in the opener, but there were no such heroics in the nightcap. Curtis Thigpen went 3-6 with a walk on the evening. Juan Perez and Jayson Rodriguez got the job done in the opener with fair performances. Casey McKenzie struggled in the nightcap allowing 4 runs and 9 baserunners in 5 innings. Kyle Yates and Dewon Day each pitched a perfect inning with 1 strikeout.

Where do you guys look for minor league batting splits? (for example: vs. lhp and vs. rhp).

Big City Joey Metropolous

Is there a story behind this?
Mike Green - Sunday, August 15 2004 @ 10:41 AM EDT (#42292) #
Home/Road and Left/Right splits are not readily available this year. Last year's splits are still available through Sports Illustrated's website.

"Big City" Joey Metropolous is my nickname for him, and comes from his last name. "Big City Joey" also follows nicely after "Big Vito". I'm sure that somebody else can come up with a better moniker.

Well, at least you've restored some confidence in my GOOGLING skills.

I thought Crozier's splits had been discussed somewhere on Da Box... ah well.

How about Superman?

Not bad, Pistol.

If anyone wants to do BBRadio later this afternoon, there's an interesting matchup in Jamestown. Casey Janssen pitches for Auburn, while Z. Lerch (whose parents were obviously Addams Family fanatics) goes for the Jammers. Listen to the game here.

Did Syracuse not play two games yesterday? The first game was the finish of the suspended game from Friday.

I was wondering when we'd start to see Kyle Yates pitch again.

Now it's time for Zach Jackson, Dave Percy and Danny Hill.

And yes, Syracuse played two so here's the other boxscore for the 3-2 Josue Matos win:

Speaking of Vito, whuzzup?

Haven't heard much of anything about him, is he hurt?
Mike Green - Sunday, August 15 2004 @ 01:30 PM EDT (#42300) #
Thanks, Gerry and Brian B. The 2nd Syracuse boxscore wasn't up, when I looked late, late last night. Either that, or old age is approaching faster than I thought.

As for Vito, he last played on Monday night. He played nine innings and in the top of the tenth after Dunedin had scored a run, Scott Dragicevich pinch-hit for him. He hasn't played since.
