Munro looks different as an Astro. I can't remember why, but when he was a Blue Jay I couldn't bear to look at him. Was it a goatee? Was it a funny haircut? Was it too many line drives?

Is Womack that much of a threat on the bases, that you'd want to spend a bunch of times tossing over to first? Its the first inning, you got Larry F. Walker at the plate, and the ball's gotta be a little wet, making that errant throw more likely.

I keep on thinking that pitchers dont spend enough time concentrating on the batter, and allow themselves to be distracted by the runner.

Besides. Ausmus's bat tells me he should be good at tossing out runners :)

Nice jack by future Yankee star Beltran.

Oh yeah the Minny tribune reports the Twins won't offer Koskie the amount he made this season (4.5 mil) because of his injuury history.

I would love to see Koskie in a Jays uni .. of course if it fits in the teams budget.

It really sucks that you can't trade draft picks in baseball.
It would be nice to trade Hinske for a pick and sign Koskie.

So. How'd you score that? The 1-2-3-4 double play?

(goes back to watching tumbleweeds inch across the horizon)

Re Lyons' statement about Garner's aggressiveness vs Jimy Williams' ("but not necessarily with steals"), the Astros did in fact try to steal MUCH more often under Garner. 0.47 attempts per game under Williams (among the lowest in the NL), 1.14 per game under Garner.

Williams' thang was sac bunts. Houston had 60 of them in the 88 games under Williams, easily the most in baseball. I was surprised at the low number of SB attempts.

Shulman and Campbell are doing their usual great job on ESPN Radio (I can hear it on AM1200 here in Ottawa). Shulman mentioned that Matheny caught Munro one year in Toronto (after Matheny got the hit off him; maybe he knew what to expect).

Chicks dig the long ball. That one was a lollipop.

Munro is going to have to bear down if he wants to be the Don Larsen for our generation.

Well, the box score won't show it, but Munro pitched respectably.

Friggen work keeping me from calling up my homeslice Sparky. Luckily I got one of my loser friends to tape it for me, can't wait to hear it tomorrow. Did he say anything explosive I should know of ahead of time....possibly acknowleding my right to exist?

Sweet game tonight, a close one.

There's an interesting way you can look at the Astro's season: Accepting for the moment that they had to deal Wagner due to cost considerations, would they have even made the playoffs if they hadnt dealt Dotel for Beltran?

Cause it turns out, that the loss of Dotel is starting to sink their playoff chances. Dan Freaking Micelli is the guy that you bring into the game? In the 8th? Against Pujols and Rolen?

Like I said. Interesting.

Did he say anything explosive I should know of ahead of time

It's possible that I heard him say something about quitting the team if anyone had the nickname thrillhouse.

How many millions of dollars are Beltran's post-season exploits worth? Discuss. Will he become a member of the hated New York Yankees and terrorize the AL East next season?

Shulman and Campbell were all over Garner for not bringing in Lidge to start the 8th (and they were questioning it even before the home runs).
_Jobu - Friday, October 15 2004 @ 12:02 AM EDT (#26609) #
Phew....that was close, luckily we call Russ THRILLHOUSE and not thrillhouse.

Phew....that was close, luckily we call Russ THRILLHOUSE and not thrillhouse.

We can also still use THRILLSHOUSE's video game identity . . . although I'm not sure if the Cheer Club could bring in a giant banner with that name.

Ah.... I can see the arguments on the field now

o-Dog: Hey, how's the new glove?
Thr: Oh it's awesome! And all I did was stich my name on...THRILLHO
o-Dog: Say, cool dude, can I play too?
Thr: Uhhh.... sorry, it's a left handed glove
o-Dog: Say what? It's clearly right handed
Thr: GIBBY!! ORLANDO'S SWEARING!!!
