Last time I shot tons of Eric Hinske, right? This time Alex Rios appears to be the guy who outnumbers everyone else in total pictures, though I also have a lot of some guy named Hill.

So even though Friday's picture was of Rios sliding into third, here he is again, smackin' a ball:

Excellent picture, especially since it was from the first game that I attended this season. I am the Assistant Varsity Baseball Coach for a team in Western New York, and we were eliminated last week. Now, I can focus on the Jays 100%.

We were able to see the new Rogers Centre and enjoy the Minnesota series--a quick visit and an autograph from Jesus Figueroa on one of his old jerseys was my highlight.

Figueroa would be the trivia answer to: Who has the longest continuous service in a Jays uniform? He has been with the Jays since 1988!

One question from those of you who attended the series. Does anyone know who the older guy who was out with the Twins during BP? He looked about 80, with huge sideburns and was wearing khaki pants instead of baseball pants but was wearing a BP top.

That sure looks like a powerful swing. The HR's will come...

Yeah, check out his arms. That's what made me pick this one.

Craig assures us that power originates in the glutes. Alex's swing looks great, but it's going to be a few years before he really gets behind the ball.

The glutes and hip rotation. Hence the encouragement for Alex to get the bat head out sooner and be a bit more aggressive than he was being early in the season. I think he can learn a lot from watching Hill's approach at the plate.

Well, we got an answer on the Twins bullpen guy. Never let it be said that we at Batter's Box don't go the extra mile!

Courtesy of Aaron Gleeman:

"The Twins have a weird looking clubhouse guy named Wayne Hattaway. I'm guessing it was him. Here's an article about him with some pictures:

So is that the guy?

By the way, *everyone* should read that article. It's freakin' awesome.

Speaking of awesome Twins stories apparently Bat Girl is a huge hit in the Twins clubhouse.

Thank you very much, Craig B. He is the guy I was asking about! What a story! Also, I am sure all the facts are correct--I found it very humourous that the article The Toronto Star wrote about Jesus Figueroa last year referred to him as a pitcher for the Cubs in 1980. He was an outfielder who actually appeared in over 100 games with the Cubbies that year. In fact, he finished his playing carrer as a Jays farmhand in 1983.

I always find it amazing that Figueroa's playing past seems to be to obscure and mysterious, but it is all there in Retrosheet.org.
