TSN reports that the Jays have agreed to terms with Ricky Romero, and that he'll sign a contract tomorrow.

With Romero inked, the Jays add yet another premier starting pitching prospect to the organizational depth chart. We'll try our best to speak with him once he starts with the Doubledays. And hey, maybe he'll pay a visit to the Rogers Centre in the next few days...

Thanks to Binnister for the heads-up!

Maybe he'll pay a visit and pitch. That would be a surprise.

Slot money for this signing will be between #7, Tulowowski at $2.3 million and Zimmerman #4, at $2.97 million.

It'll be interesting to see what Hochevar and Pelphrey eventually get?

This also breaks the White Jays drafting 'controversy'. At least among higher picks.

Not that you invented this controversy, but that seems a little ridiculous: Wells, Rios, Negron, Stewart, Lopez.

I think RBillie was being facetious. There is no drafting controversy, just like there was no MLB controversy. Just something created by the Star and its sportswriters to sell copies and gain publicity.

Yeah, I should have realized that Thomas. Sorry, I'm still half asleep.

Of course I never believed that controversy. But Stewart, Negron, Rios, etc. would not have applied since they were pre-JP picks. The article was addressing the Jays' new college heavy approach to drafting.
