The Washington Nationals are 26-9 at home, which is the best home record in the major leagues. Why is that, anyway? Is there something about RFK that other teams haven't been able to adjust to?
Carpenter (11-4) struck out 11 and walked none in his eighth career shutout, his third this season and second in three starts -- including a one-hitter at Toronto on June 14. He improved to 4-1 with an 0.90 ERA in June, and has allowed one run and nine hits in 26 innings spanning his last three starts, lowering his ERA to 2.77.
I always liked Carpenter, as he always had dominating stuff. It's really too bad he learned to use it after he left. I know it was impossible for the Jays to keep him (because of arbitration), but man would he look nice in the TO rotation. I also think he's coming on fast for the NL Cy Young.
