I say Hudson stays.

I don't think J.P. has a choice with Hudson (Or Hinske) for that matter. They wouldn't get anything in trades, and they still have some upside. Best to let them play and hope they breakout. I'm getting a little tired of Rios sitting. An occasional day off, OK, but he is on the bench (and it hasn't just been in NL parks) regularly. Reed Johnson is a fine fourth OFer to platoon against lefties, but he should virtually never be starting ahead of Rios. Nevermind that Rios is a huge part of the Jays' future and Johnson is not, going into today, Reed had just a .718 OPS against righties while Rios had a .756 one.

Hudson should bring something pretty good in trade. Whatever his hitting is like right now you know he can hit righties in the long run and his defence is unparalleled. I'm not sure what else you'd want in a second baseman. Ideally I'd like to keep him and try to fill the Jays needs some other way.

It's going to be hard to find a way to move Hinske's money on the other hand.

Did anybody else see NFH when the cameras were scanning the crowd?

I also heard a very loud 'yahooooo' when the place fell silent after the second Hudson homer. Can anyone confirm this NFH sighting/hearing?

From Gammons' latest column: When, for instance, the Phillies called about a Ryan Howard-Ted Lilly deal, Ricciardi said he won't trade Lilly. Obviously, that's just a rumour, but if it's true, I honestly can't believe it. With the shaky offense we have and the pitching depth in the minors, I would make that swap any day.

Gammons also claims in that exact same column that Placido Polanco and Dmitri Young are sharing first base duties in Detroit. Palanco has yet to play a game at first base this year (in Detroit or Philly). Why is Gammons so respected again?

As long as he is respected about the Howard/Lilly trade I don't care if he gets the Polanco info wrong.
