After two successful seasons the Toronto Bauxite Baseball League is preparing for a third season this summer and is looking for new players. If you are interested in playing hardball during the summer in the Toronto area, see the message after the jump from Mike Kolaric, one of the League's co-conveners and most active members. As a former and future participant currently on the DL, I highly recommend the league if you can make the time commitment.

Hey Bauxites!

Two years ago, a couple of Batter's Box members created the Toronto Bauxite Baseball League, a men's baseball league in Toronto's west side. This year we are looking to expand. Spots are limited, but if anyone is interested in playing some hardball, drop me a line at whitesox_1978@hotmail.com. The season runs from May 3rd- August 31st. Commitment to show up to the majority of the games is a must. Skill levels vary in the league and we welcome anyone to sign up.

I apologize to Batter's Box for advertising on your website, but I am assuming there are people on here who would love to play some baseball. No need to apologize, Mike. The TBBL is sponsored (in spirit, not cash) by Batter's Box.

Quick Details:

Park: Smythe Park (Scarlet/Eglinton area)

Cost: Approximately $200 for 5 exhibition games, 9 regular season, 2 playoff

Games played: On Saturday's between 1pm-7pm.

Cheers!

Mike

Thanks for posting this gimpy ... er .. Thomas :)

I hope you're the Thomas I am thinking of, otherwise, sorry?

Heh.

I am indeed. Feel free to mock my gimpyness.

I'll return with a vengeance next year. Or as much of a vengeance as I can possibly muster.

I deeply regret my inability to participate this year. I was scared that Thomas would hit another home run off me, so I decided to work at a summer camp instead. Then it turns out he's injured, so go figure.

I wish all those in the TBBL another fine season (hopefully this will be the year for the Reds), and for all those who don't play, you should! It's an awesome time.

Sorry to disappoint you Ishai, but us Sox plan on Three-peating :)

I will miss our battles. You were my favorite pitcher to face. Always a challenge.

The reigning Cy Young and Playoff MVP winner will be back looking for a three-peat!

I think I have a friend interested in playing as well.

I can't do it this year, but does anyone know how competitive the Royal City Baseball League is in Guelph? I haven't played organized baseball in about a decade, but I also don't know anyone in the city that's playing either. :(

The Royal City Baseball League used to be pretty good back when I was in university.  Did the stats for the University team that played in it during the summer (kept the guys in baseball shape until the 2 month fall season).  Some guys were throwing in the 80's I'd estimate and guys from it were going to the inter-country league regularly (the league where the Butler boys and Paul Spoljaric played).

As I moved to Edmonton, and the travel costs are a bit high, I too will be unable to play in the TBBL this year. But good luck with everything.

As a side note, does anyone know of any men's leagues in the Edmonton?

Yeah, that's too bad. I also enjoyed facing you when you pitched. Hope all is well in Edmonton.
