Vancouver Canadians
Settling into a six-game homestand against the Hillsboro Hops, the Arizona Diamondbacks' High-A affiliate, we attended Tuesday night’s almost four-hour 15-9 victory for Vancouver.
Wednesday’s game saw Vancouver win their fourth straight and second at home, thanks to a three-hit night from Arjun Nimmala.
Vancouver led 7-0 after three innings and used that cushion to win the game despite a three-run eighth from the Hops.
Juaron Watts-Brown had almost four scoreless innings before a single and home run spoiled his shutout bid. He had a season high 10 strikeouts.
The Canadians and Hops are back at it today with game time at 7:05 PM PDT.
Buffalo Bisons
The Bisons won 10-8 Wednesday night thanks to a six run second that was started by a three run homer from Christian Bethancourt.
Davis Schneider’s triple in the second capped off the six-run second scoring Joey Loperfido
Iowa would score seven runs over three innings to close the gap to 8-7 before two runs from the Bisons in the seventh and eigth innings would make it 10-7.
New Hampshire Fisher Cats
The Fisher Cats and Portland Sea Dogs each won a game 3-2 in a double header the teams played Wednesday.
The Fisher Cats won the first one thanks to two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning with the teams tied at 1-1. A Ryan McCarty single scored scored Charles McAdoo and Cade Doughty.
Portland then flipped the switch on New Hampshire, taking the second game 3-2. They built up a 2-0 lead after the first.
Yohendrick Pinango’s double scored Gabriel Martinez to make it 2-1 in the second, and Pinango blasted a solo shot in the sixth to make it 3-2, but the Sea Dogs wouldn’t allow any more runs after that.
New Hampshire and Portland play today at 6:35 pm ET.
Dunedin Blue Jays
The Dunedin Blue Jays were shut out 4-0 Wednesday by the Clearwater Threshers.
Dunedin used five pitchers in this game with Austin Cates taking the brunt of the damage allowing three earned runs and six hits against four strikeouts. All three runs were solo homers.
