We are back to a series versus a wild card competitor. The Orioles are handing on by their fingernails, they will feel the need to win this series, just as the Jays need to to keep pace with Cleveland. Friday night sees a seniors matchup, the crime dog returns to face Mad Max. The Jays have a decision to make regarding the rest of the series. Do they move up Dylan Cease and Jose Soriano or leave the day as a bullpen day. Cease looked tired in his last start, will that influence the decision? All will likely be revealed by the manager at around 4.30 pm.
SCHEDULE
Friday: Bassitt vs Scherzer
Saturday: Bradish vs TBD
Sunday: Rogers vs TBD
Over their last ten games the Jays are 6-4; Guardians are 5-5; and the Orioles 3-7.
The Jays are calling up Rudy Martin Jr for his major league debut. Earlier this season Martin was called up by the Orioles and didn't play. The interesting part is there are many candidates for who Martin is replacing. Keys and McAdoo are not getting many at-bats, either of those could be sent down to get regular playing time. Someone could go on the IL. Or the Jays might decide that OF defence is important and Jesus Sanchez could be DFA'd. Again we will find out more this afternoon.
