The limping Jays head into Baltimore with both teams barely alive in the wild card race. The Jays go into this series hoping for three innings from Trey Yesavage and five from Max Scherzer. That leaves 19 innings for the bullpen. So then is it pray for rain? And there is some rain in the forecast for all three days. The league will do its best to make sure all three games get played, be it late into the night or a doubleheader.

The Jays will have two bullpen games in their set with the Orioles. The AAA season ended yesterday so the Jays could have Chad Dallas, Ricky Tiedemann, CJ Van Eyk or Chase Lee in town. If an optionable pitcher, looking at you Brendan Cellucci, Brendon Little or Jose Rodriguez, goes two innings tonight they could be sent down/home/taxi squad and replaced to get more innings for Wednesday. Or Paul Sewald could be DFA'd to give you the same result.

There should be two pieces of news before todays game. The first is the condition of Dylan Cease's shoulder and the second how is Vladdy's back?

The Jays see Chris Bassitt again, he will face Scherzer in the old-timers game. There will have to be a roster move before todays game to get Yesavage on the roster. That could be Cease or one of the four pitchers mentioned above.
