Sorry, folks;  Life and work got in the way of a full minor league recap.  Here's an abbreviated look at Wednesday which was actually a good night.  3 games, 3 wins, all in the final at-bat.  Too bad the big club blew it.

New Orleans 1    Las Vegas 3

Randy Ruiz
drove in two in the bottom of the 8th for the win.  Travis Snider was 1-for-4 with a strikeout and an RBI.  J.P. Arencibia was 0-for-3 with two strikeouts.

Brian Burres started and pitched well going 7 with nine strikeouts.  Jeremy Accardo worked the ninth for the save.

Portland 6    New Hampshire 7

A walk-off win for the Cats thanks to an Adam Calderone single.  Calderone was 3-for-4 with two runs, 3 RBI and a double.  David Cooper was 2-for-5 with a double, run and RBI.  Brad Emaus went 0-for-5.

Reidier Gonzalez got rocked over 3.1 giving up six runs on six hits.  But the bullpen picked him up with 5.2 shutout frames.  Danny Farquhar went two innings and struck out four.

Dunedin 3    Sarasota 2

With two out and nobody on in the ninth, Dunedin was trailing 2-1.  Justin Jackson drew a walk and was followed by a two-run HR by Chris Emanuele.  Nice.  Jackson reached base all four times going 2-for-2 with a 2B, 3B and two walks.

Andrew Liebel was excellent in his 6.2 allowing two runs on three hits and two walks to go against 6 strikeouts.  Tim Collins went 1.1 and struck out two.   Zach Dials worked the ninth for the save.

Lansing was rained out.

Three Stars:

3rd Star: Adam Calderone; 3-for-4, 2B, 2 R, 3 RBI, walk-off single

2nd Star: Andrew Liebel; 6.2 IP, 3 H, 2 ER, 2 BB, 6 K

1st Star: Justin Jackson; 2-for-2, 2B, 3B, R, 2 BB

In return for hitting that home run for Dunedin Chris Emanuele was sent down to Lansing today.  Kenny Wilson has gone on the DL.

Great to see Jackson putting it together. Two walks and two XBH's looks nice!

I wonder how Johnny Mac would do if he took some at bats in high A - any notions?

Nice start by Burres, maybe he should get called up? [/sarcasm]

Though I think I meant that more like the kid from The Simpsons who said Cannonball Homer was cool -- I'm really not sure if that was sarcasm? In loosing streaks such as this, I don't think we are afforded the luxury of sarcasm.

Great to see Jackson rebounding from a dismal start. His overall numbers aren't great (239/348/292) but over his last ten games he's hit .379 with 3 doubles, 1 triple, 7:8 BB:K ratio.

He's an athletic 20-year-old playing in high-A ball. He still has time.

Good to see Collins doing well again after a bit of a slide.  In 25 2/3 IP he now has 45 strikeouts vs 10 walks and 14 hits given up (WHIP under 1, 15.8 K/9).  He gave up runs in 3 of his last 6 games including 2 games where he didn't strike out anyone.  One wonders what he looks like on the mound with that sky high K rate and his small stature.
