Two wins and two losses... Not bad for the affiliates given the poor seasons they all seem to be having.

Col Springs 11 Las Vegas 9

Starter Brian Burres was wild and he walked five batters in five innings of work. He also allowed six hits, which led to three runs. Brian Wolfe worked two scoreless innings and struck out two batters. Jonah Bayliss allowed four runs in 0.1 innings, while Bill Murphy allowed four in 0.2 innings. Offensively, Russ Adams and Randy Ruiz had three hits each. Adams scored three runs, while Ruiz drove in three (two with a homer). Buck Coats had two hits, as did Aaron Mathews and Angel Sanchez. Both players hit home runs - the first of the year for both of them. J.P. Arencibia was 1-for-5.

New Hampshire 5 Erie 0

Each team had just six hits, but the Fisher Cats players made the most of their opportunities. Todd Donovan had two hits, including a two-run homer, and drove in three in total. Adam Calderone, Brian Dopirak, Nick Gorneault, and Luis Sanchez had the other hits. David Cooper and Brad Emaus continued to enjoy an extended cold streak. Starter Marc Rzepczynski allowed five hits and three walks in seven innings of work. He struck out eight batters. Dan Farquhar worked two shutout innings and allowed just one hit with two Ks.

Dunedin 7 Charlotte 4

Dunedin took the win despite dealing with patch-work pitching. Reliever Dumas Garcia started the game and allowed two runs in three innings. Tim Collins than continued his mid-season swoon by allowing two runs in 2.2 innings, with two hits allowed, one walk and three Ks. Leon Boyd worked 2.1 scoreless innings and Zach Dials finished off the game with one inning of one-hit ball. Darin Mastroianni and Scott Campbell (rehabbing) both had three hits. Moises Sierra and Eric Thames each had one hit a piece. Thames' hit was a double. Jesus Gonzalez was 1-for-4 with two runs scored and a solo homer.

Great Lakes 4 Lansing 1

Josh Wells had another rough start and allowed four runs on seven hits through six innings. Hunter Moody and Frank Gailey finished off the game without allowing a run in three combined innings.  Chris Emanuele was 2-for-4 with two doubles. Johermyn Chavez also had two hits. Justin McClanahan and Michael McDade had the other hits for Lansing.

Three Stars:
3. Randy Ruiz for three hits, plus a homer
2. Russ Adams for three hits while coming back from injury
1. Marc Rzepczynski for seven shutout innings and the win

Exciting to see the young outfielders at Dunedin taking this step forward. With only Calderone impressing at AA, it looks to me like the entire Dunedin outfield could end up promoted to New Hampshire to begin 2010. Also nice to see if that Johermyn Chavez has been fairly consistent and looks set to replace Sierra at Dunedin whenever the latter is promoted.

The Bullpen in Las Vegas seems to have been quite terrible the last several weeks.  BIll Murphy has fallen apart since returning from the jays.  I'm guessing once the GCL Jays and Auburn start up we could see some new relievers promoted to Vegas, including hopefully Farquhar.

I really hope Emaus and Cooper can turn their seasons around in the second half, I expected so much from Emaus after seeing him in spring training, he's down to .254/.318/.729 from his current slump while cooper is at .239/.319/.666 for the year.

Jays could more active on the waiver wire in the next month with moves like the Dellucci pick-up. Only 38 guys on the 40-man right now and that includes the trio of injured starters would could easily be shifted the 60-Day DL -- and Murphy who's on a crash course to be outrighted. Wow, he's fallen apart.

I don't see Farquhar getting another promotion with a walk rate of more than 5.00 BB/9 this season...

...and we thought Tim Collins had a monopoly on all the "short guy pitches big" storylines:

If we are  talking releivers, I have been keeping an eye on Dials, and his work is starting to catch my eye. his ERA is nice and he has an unbeilievable record against lefties. I know he is down to rehab a stiff shoulder but the way he is pitching right now, why wait any longer to move him back up?
