The lanky lefty is the focus of the latest "December Double" POTD.

Brian Tallet comes on in relief of fellow southpaw Brett Cecil after he injured his left leg in trying to field a bunt attempt by the Orioles Robert Andino at the Rogers Centre August 8th.

"Wolverine" was able to hold down the fort by tossing five shutout innings with four strikeouts while allowing four hits and a walk.  Jason Frasor would get the "W" as the Jays waited until the tenth inning to beat the Orioles 3-2.

The 32 year-old Tallet posted a 7-9 record with a 5.32 ERA in 2009.   The 6-foot-6 lefty started the year in the bullpen but injuries to the starting rotation meant 25 starts of his 37 appearances came as a starter.  He pitched a career high 160 2/3 innings (well over his previous high of 62 1/3 innings in 2007) in which he struck out 120 and walked 72.  If Tallet has to make another 25 starts in 2010, it'll be another long year in Blue Jay land.
