Lansing won the suspended game 5-4 over Bowling Green. Patterson singled to drive in Pillar. With the win, Lansing clinches a playoff birth.

I attended the F-Cats games on Tuesday and Wednesday night.  A longer report will follow.  The short version of events is that none of the hitters looked at all comfortable (which may reflect poorly on batting coach Jon Nunnally).   Joel Carreno started the Tuesday game, sat at 92 and threw well save for one hanger which was deposited easily over the right-field fence by a weak hitter (it was the only run of the game).  Wednesday's game was suspended after 3 innings.  Brett Cecil sat at 86 and threw three shutout innings before the rains came.  The word is out that he makes a meal of left-handed hitters, and so the Flying Squirrels started only one LHB.  Cecil made him look silly, but there were a number of hard-hit balls by the RHBs.

At some point you have to accept Brett Cecil doesn't have much of a future as a starter and start converting him into a lefty specialist.

You can put a lot of groceries on your plate being Bob McClure or Trever Miller. No shame in that. Now, you may not have a marble foyer in your home...

Cecil is good enough that if you put him in the second half of the tandem, say with Drabek, in a situation where he would likely face three lefties out of nine, he would probably succeed.  Roughly three innings of Drabek followed by roughly three innings of Cecil would probably work fine.  You don't have to tandem anyone else...
