Kyle Drabek has a strained UCL and has hit the DL.  There has been no news on how long Drabek might be out of action.   Brett Cecil will start on Sunday in Morrow's spot.  Cecil last pitched on Tuesday so he was in line for this start unless Alvarez was moved up.  The Jays might have an announcement regarding next Tuesday's starter later although, because that involves a second roster move, the announcement might not be made until Sunday.

So the rotation for the next four days is Drew Hutchison, Ricky Romero, Brett Cecil and Henderson Alvarez with TBA as your number five.

Update: Drabek is on his way to see Dr Andrews.  He might need another TJ operation.  Drabek had one TJ operation several years ago.  Jason Frasor is another pitcher who has had two TJ's but it is rare.

I am confident in Cecil.

Rotoworld blurb by Danny Knobler says that the Jays are "particularly interested" in Justin Morneau.  Twins haven't decided yet on trading him.  His contract is for $14 million a year and runs through 2013.  He was looking like the AL MVP in 2010 before he was hurt, with an OPS of 1.055.  Has struggled since with the concussion and other injuries.  OPS last year .618 and .801 this year, which isn't too far off his career .849.  Just turned 31 last month.  Might be a nice acquisition to fit in at 1B and the #5 spot in the order.

I like the idea of Morneau.  He is a bit of a gamble, but his contract is not crazy.

Per Gerry's interview with Dane Johnson, it sounds like the pitchers in Lansing are being stretched to 5.0 innings.  Sanchez starts tomorrow at Great Lakes and Nicolino will start on Sunday.  If you have the MiLB package, you should be able to watch the Great Lakes / Lansing series as the Loons broadcast all of their home games through MiLB I believe.

Luckily, it is fathers day this weekend, and since my father has season tickets for the Loons, I guess I know where I will be to celebrate the holiday.

According to Shi Davidi, Drabek may have a torn ligament and need TJ surgery again. He's off to see Dr. Andrews for confirmation.

With the new CBA, players traded mid-year are not eligible for compensation picks. So guys signed through 2013 could be the natural target for AA.

Even if the pitching injuries have undermined realistic expectations this year, Morneau is a solid "get" and I'd be working hard on that if I were AA.

The only problem I see with it is that with the reversal of some secondary prospects, filling out a deal might get harder (i.e. last year McGuire might have been a nice piece to add into the back of the trade, not so much right now...same with AJ Jimenez)

I wonder if the Twins could be suckered into placing a lot of value on JPA? (with the idea of moving Mauer to a less demanding position)

With Hutchison headed to the D.L., A.A.'s moves to fill two empty Starter positions throughout the Organization will be fascinating.   Whether or not we like the moves, they will be worth talking about.

A.A. already has a list of everyone who's contract expires in 2013, 2014 and 2015.   Whether or not he makes the right move determines this teams future.   Morneau and Garza would be suitable acquisitions as would Tim Lincecum.   This will be an interesting topic for many weeks.
