Deck McGuire pitched five hitless innings on Friday. He also pitched a sixth inning in which he gave up five runs on six hits. That was the second inning, he recovered to go four more. Adam Loewen hit a grand slam as New Hampshire won. Buffalo also won behind Dave Bush. Lansing had to get the 16 year opposing starter out of the game before they could take the lead and hold on for the win. The only losers were the D Jays who led by two runs in the ninth. Andy Burns and Kevin Pillar combined to go 0-9.

Buffalo 6 Norfolk 3

The Bisons scored early and often and led 6-0 in the fifth inning. That was plenty for Dave Bush who pitched 5.2 innings. The first four were scoreless before he gave up a single run in the fifth and sixth. Joel Carreno pitched 1.1 innings and gave up one hit. John Stilson pitched the ninth and was tagged for the third run.

Moises Sierra doubled in a run in the first. Mike Nickeas doubled in a run in the second and then Mike McCoy tripled him home. Luis Jimenez doubled in run number 4, and then the Jays used sac fly's to score runs 5 and 6. Jimenez led the hitters with three hits, Sierra was 2-3 with a walk.


Binghamton 7 New Hampshire 8

Binghamton scored five runs in the second inning off Deck McGuire. The Fisher Cats Scored eight runs over three middle innings, then the Mets scored two in the ninth to make the score close. In that second inning McGuire allowed five runs on six hits including four doubles. In his other five innings McGuire did not give up a hit.

Adam Loewen hit a grand slam and Ryan Schimpf hit a two run shot. Schimpf, Loewen, Brad Glenn, Brian Van Kirk and Kevin Nolan had two hits each.


Clearwater 7 Dunedin 6

Dunedin trailed 4-3 heading to the bottom of the eighth. They scored three runs to jump ahead 6-4 but then they gave up three in the top of the ninth and lost. The Jays loaded the bases in the eighth, KC Hobson delivered one run with a sac fly then Peter Mooney singled in two. Tony Davis came on for the save but he let the Phillies tie the game with one out. Dayton Marze relieved Davis and got the force at home for the second out. But then a passed ball let the eventual winning run score.

Gabe Jacobo came off the DL and had three hits, two of them doubles. Mooney also had three hits. Andy Burns must have angered the gods, he was 0-5 with 4 K's. Casey Lawrence started and went six innings and was charged with two runs.


Lansing 5 Great Lakes 3

Lansing trailed 3-1 after five but scored in the sixth, seventh and eighth innings. Kevin Patterson and Gustavo Pierre each were 3-4. Patterson's hits included a double and a home run. Carlos Ramirez had two hits and two RBI's.

Alonzo Gonzalez started and went five, he was tagged for all three runs. The Lugnut bullpen has struggled recently but they delivered four shutout innings. The Jays scored their first run off 16 year old starter Julio Urias.
